    Regular disc

Question. Can a computer disc be used without that sliding metal on it. On one of the discs it is starting to start getting stuck and I don't want it to really get stuck in the CPU. Can I remove it or is that something that should not be removed?

I believe you can remove it without any problems. You might want to try on a non-essential disc first, though.

Been a long time since I've dealt with actual disks.

You definately can remove the little metal protector on a floppy, but you will want to then transfer the contents of the floppy onto a hard drive. Then you can copy the contents back to a new floppy if you want. The main purpose of that metal slide is keep dust off the disc itself. dust on a disc can ruin both a floppy and the drive itself.
