Most come from the north central to eastern states. eg. Ohio to Wisconsin
I suppose their accents may sound strange because they are raised speaking German as well as English and their accents probably include their own regional dialect as well as some German influences as well.

To me, they sound like the Mennonite people from Manitoba that grew up speaking low German. An accent can hang around forever...my father has been in Canada for over 40 years and still has a heavy accent.

I'm glad someone asked this, I've been really curious. To me some of the thicker accents sound almost Irish.
    I really dig them too.

I think the accents sound more southern, especially Randy's. Ruth..I dunno..she has this kind of accent that I can't really distinguish. Mose I think sounds the most like an Amish (German-like accent). Miriam and Jonas don't seem to have much of an accent.

I lived in Lancaster County, PA for quite a few years so I think of their accents as Pennsylvania Dutch. Which is basically the Amish accent because as previously stated -- they "sprechen sie deutsch" -- doncha know now. I actually do a fairly decent Dutchy accent myself
