Lack of materialism and commercialism in a person's life really makes for different people. Instead of living a life driven to get the latest car or coolest clothing, they live a life focused on work, community and family. I can respect that! (I don't think I'll run off and be Amish or anything though: I know everyone's trying to sell me something, and I'm not buying... so don't you dare try to take away my t.v.!!! )

I just caught this show last night. I love it. And is it just me or do some of those amish kids look really old? Mose is 24? Are you kidding me? He looks 44! Ditto for Miriam.
Look, I love me most...If I could run across the beach into my own arms, I would.

True, hard work and sun can age a person a little bit...(speaks from experience )

But, *peeks at mine own avatar*, I really don't think Mose looks that old. He looks mid-twenties to early thirties to me.
As for Miriam, I thought she looked older when she was in her Amish wear without makeup (and a nasty frown), but wearing makeup i think she looks comparable in age to the rest of them. JMO

Makes me wonder if they could have built this show the same, but without the addition of city kids. Just throw the Amish kids into the nice house in LA, give 'em some cash and daily messages that dictate the day's activities. Maybe eventually mix in some hotties just for fun? But leave the Amish to their own devices, instead of pushing some rude city kids in their faces.
Thats what the show is about having the city kids there and the amish kids not uderstand anything
    no offence but thats funny!

The amish live in their own community with their own ideals and views, however they showed a level of maturity that the city kids didn't.
And making fun of mose because he almost drown is the height of ignorace and impoliteness. Totally uncalled for. I feel bad because these amish kids may end up thinking that all city kids are like this when no, were not. But that's just me.

Watching people who should know better be asses to other people isn't what I consider "interesting". I consider it rude, ignorant, and intolerant - but not even on the same 80-acre Amish farm as "interesting".

i agree, the show would have been better if there were like 2 city kids.
