Medians are found by taking all the numbers, putting them in order, and the number in the middle is the median. Example:

1 4 689 10 12

The 8 is the middle number. If you have something like this:

1 46 89 10

and there is no official middle number, you find the mean/average of the two middle numbers (6 & 8). Which would be 7.

So Melrose's call out average (or mean) is 3.36. But if you want to find the median, then you do it this way:

1 1 1 2 222 4 4 6 12

So 2 is the middle number.

Hope that makes sense
