I hope not. Personally I think Marvitas should be cloned, not shot.
The joke is in the title "The Shoot Horses, Don't They?"
Marvita = depressed + horse hair
"They Shoot Marvitas, Don't They?"
It makes sense if you've seen the movie/read the novel "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?", which is about a Depression-era dance marathon. Incidentally, the shooting horses bit is about when a horse gets injured beyond repair, they apparently shoot them to put them out of their misery. The main male character in the novel/movie puts the other main character out of her misery by shooting her and his answer as to why he did is, "They shoot horses, don't they?"

i dont really know. just that he always interviews the one tree hill cast, and i was watching hilarie burton's interview and then i saw marvita's on related videos. so yeah i really have no idea who jason c or the castro guy is. i dont watch american idol, usually because one tree hill is on at that time
