    UK 'Next Top Model' planned
Thursday, November 11 2004, 12:29 GMT -- by Neil Wilkes

LivingTV is planning a UK version of America's Next Top Model, according to this week's Broadcast.

The series, which ranked as Living's third most popular programme in August, follows wannabe supermodels as they compete for a top modelling contract.

The channel's director of programmes, Richard Woolfe, told the magazine that the show would be one of his biggest commissions in 2005, adding that a launch was being planned for next May.

Living has previously produced UK versions of Queer Eye For The Straight Guy and The Swan.
"George Oscar Bluth II, aka GOB, featured magician in the best selling videotape, "Girls With Low Self Esteem" invites you to enter his world.

Hmmm....and yet I saw a show about wannabe models in Britain first (before ANTM). Mind you, there were differences (for example, they had male and female contestants). If it were like ANTM I wonder who they would get to be the British version of Tyra? Any ideas?
If you type "google" into google you can break the internet.

Yes, she's British. Can't you just imagine how wild the show would be with Naomi as host? Or (my favorite) Kate?

I can't think of any more senior British models with the Tyra thing going on, but just to throw some names out there... Karen Elson, Jodie Kidd, Sophie Dahl.

In any case, it sounds exciting!

Yeah! It should be cool, we can compare those English Roses with the American Babes!
I hope the host is really a top supermodel, not just any has been. If that really happened I'll be so freaking pissed!

Wasn't there already something like "Search for a supermodel?".

There was one in Australia (which Gemma Ward was part of) and I thought there was the another in the UK.

These competitions exist (in the US as well), and they carry more credibility but lack the reality show element.

funkalicious, Has-been is one way to look at it... but I think it's nice to have a retired supermodel sort of grande soeur who knows the ropes helping the next generation, instead of someone still focused on her own career.

Do you have any photos of any of the contestants on this "Search for a Supermodel" competition?
