I really wouldn't think that runway work would be the primary focus for the ANTM girls. While Shandi and Yoanna might do some, I really see them doing much more print and commercial work. There are hundreds of working runway models who never make in to print (other than shots from shows). It is were young models earn their chops so to speak. Doing the show gave the older girls a chance to get noticed for the more desirable jobs. Is it a guarantee of super-model-status, no. While those young models might be making fun of them, it will definitely be tinged with jealousy.

the way i see it, mostly backstage at fashion shows, will other models make fun of yo's flab ... but y'know what, because of antm and because of the IMG representation, clients will immediately know yo's strengths as well as her limitations.

as chorita predicted above, i agree that runway jobs won't really be the main meat of yoanna's work anyway, it will be print. if clients want a fierce face from the shoulders up they'll call IMG and say "Hey we want Yoanna for blah blah blah..."

Yo would have had all doors shut in her face without antm and this will likely be a source of resentment from other models .............but hey, unless yo is backstage at a fashion show, she really won't encounter big-time cattiness

I doubt it. Maybe 6 months ago when the show was on.
But she's skin and bones now. Even "real" models will see that.

    I saw that documentary

about reality show contestants. That's pretty much what I was referring to about her being taken seriously, not that she might not be model material. I don't think 'real' models would be jealous, b/c models go to agencies and are either immediately turned away, told to work on [something] and come back in six months, or signed [if the agency thinks they have promise] and the agency invests in dental work/walk lessons/personal trainer/makeover, etc. It's not so much a profession like advertising or publishing where you 'work your way up.' You just may to be 'developed' or wait some time to get that big contract. What I really meant was that Yoanna will always be "that girl from the reality show." A reality show contestant would probably have a harder time with acting b/c s/he will always be "Colby from Survivor." So Yoanna is now a 'reality show winner' rather than somebody that built a career and visibility.

Yoanna will hang in there no matter how heavy the stress is.. you can see the want in her really badly.

I don't see that as a problem. Tyra and Nigel are well known in the industry and had their own successes. Re: winning via the UPN show, other models might have started by entering and winning contests at their local malls, etc. If anything, they will know that she had different tasks and shoots to complete and wasn't a pretty face that just walked off the streets with a portfolio.

Nothing more that I can add to your comments, OtterPopstar. You said it very, very well.

I do agree in general that being in your twenties is a little to start out of the starting gate but in this case it doesn't matter. Being on ANTM jumps you into the spotlight overnight where it would take years to do so without it. Yoanna is in a great place. Hell, Heidi Klum is 30 and still kicking ass. I think Yoanna will go far, much farther than Adrian who doesn't even come close to Yoanna's photogenic beauty.

BTW there are plenty of models with cellulite and stretch marks that I've seen on the runway. They're so skinny that is looks greatly reduce. Quite a few of them do not have toned scuplted bodies; they're just thin like Shandi. That's why I found April's body to be exceptional when it came to the business.

How do "real" models handle Ivanka Trump and The Hilton Sisters when they work the runways? I mean, they're not there because they need to work. Do they snicker behind their backs because they think they're really just rich girls playing at being models? You know that a part of why they get hired is because of their celebrity and notoriety (Yes, they are beautiful and they know what they're doing, but it's still there...). The term "Supermodel" was coined for those models who could (and do) really do it all, runway, editorial, catalog, commercials, etc. But then by the late 70's and early 80's supermodels began to gain a level of celebrity. A designer would be assured of some good attendance because he had supermodels in his/her show. Linda Evangilsta used to pick at least one of her favorite up and coming designers and do their show for free so that they would get good exposure. Having a Supermodel on your runway wouldn't be a guarantee of a successful show (just ask Issac Mizrahi) but it would help you get noticed if your stuff was good. By the mid/late 90's it wasn't enough to have supermodels in your show, hence the "Celebrity" model shows (Gauthier went so far as to have his favorite porn star Jeff Stryker walk his runway). Yoanna may be older than most models when they start out, but she will have the added value of celebrity on her side, though it may just be reality TV show celebrity. I'm not saying that that's enough to make a career, but it maybe enough to get her off to a good start. What she does with is up to her and her management.

Yeah, I agree. I like how she's easy going, but if somebody starts talkin about her behind her back-ahem Camille-then she's not afraid to confront them and if necessary put them in their place. "Wait! I'm not finished!" and "i don't trust you." That was hilarious.
