Robin's Interview (in TV Guide)

http://www.tvguide.com/newsgossip/insider/030703a.asp

As Tyra Banks told this week's TV Guide magazine: "I don't approve of women being divas, especially if you haven't made it yet." Yes, Robin Manning, the slinky hostess of America's Next Top Model meant you. A 27-year-old ex-beauty queen, Manning was exiled this week for a litany of sins, including excessive Bible thumping and refusal to do a photo shoot au naturel. Here, she tries explaining herself to TV Guide Online.

TV Guide Online: Did you mind being labeled "plus-size"?
Robin: They said, "She's not big enough to be plus-sized, but she's too big to do runway." High fashion is from size zero to a four. A four is considered fat! I'm a six and sometimes eight. I guess I would be considered plus-sized.

TVGO: We've heard from others on your religious issues with Ebony's girlfriend visiting. Why did you care?
Robin: In that episode with Ebony, if people listened to everything we said, I say, "I don't agree with homosexual and gay relationships, but at the same time, I cannot judge." I actually stated that and I'm glad they didn't edit that out. I was not being judgmental. Do I have certain views on things? Sure, I do. But do I judge people? No. I'm sorry people felt that way.

TVGO: Since so many gay professionals work in fashion, wouldn't it make business sense to keep your mouth shut about gays, since you need their help to build your career? The show's about modeling, after all, not voicing your political views.
Robin: No, because I didn't judge them. It's like if you ask me, how do I feel about a person being a racist. I don't agree with it, but I can't judge them. Just because I don't agree with a lifestyle doesn't mean I can't be respectful to that person. With Ebony... we didn't have a conflict. Ebony and I have sat down and talked. She even got on some Internet message board and said, "Robin and Shannon did go in to meet my girlfriend," because we wanted to see who this person was that made Ebony happy. She was always tense, so to see that softer side of her made me happy.

TVGO: Why did you flash your chest at Jay the make-up artist?
Robin: (Laughs) This is the 100th time I'll explain this. But it's okay! The blouse I was wearing was a see-through shirt, with flowers covering the nipples. Jay thought I was not going to wear it, so I opened the curtain to show him. But it was missing a button and my boobs popped out! I was like, "Oh, my word," and I apologized to Mr. Jay. He knew it was an accident. They turned an innocent accident into more than what it was.

TVGO: Why did you refuse to do this week's nude photo shoot?
Robin: The highest paid model, Gisele Bundchen, does not do nude photos. She will wear risqué outfits, but she does not do nudes and she makes over $15,000 an hour. So you don't have to pose nude in order to be a top model, and that's the message I want to convey to young girls. I don't want them to feel that's what you have to do to make it in this world.

TVGO: Why were you always reading the Bible, even while riding in that limo in Paris?
Robin: (Sighs) Once again, it's called creative editing. It looks better to see Robin read the Bible for four hours... Really, the conversation with the Frenchmen in the limousine got really raunchy. They were talking about sex shops and stuff like that. I just whipped out my Bible and started reading.

TVGO: Um, so you just happened to have the good book handy?
Robin: Yeah, I have a little pocket bible and I don't see anything wrong with it. Whenever I have a free moment, honey, I just whip out the Word and see how that can help get me through the day. That's the reason I pulled it out in the limo with those guys. They turned me off.

Hmmm am I the only one that has issues with this statement used in comparison? So she won't stop respecting someone even though they are racist?

I think I don't understand Robin's definition of "judge". If you think that it's wrong to be homosexual, then you are being judgemental when you dismiss an entire group of people without knowing them personally. Yet for her she is not judging anyone.

I think Robin talked herself into a corner here about respecting racists. Odd.

I don't understand that either, hepcat. I have no problem judging a racist, but I don't make any claims to be a god-fearing Christian ("judge not, lest ye be judged"). Pointing out that Biblical verse to Elyse may not have been judgemental, but it was certainly disingenuous. It's tough to be a god-fearing Christian, when you are a natural schoolmarm. ;-)

Let's see if this pic works. Supposedly, it is from TV Guide:

Darn, doesn't work. Here's the page where I saw the pic: http://pub124.ezboard.com/fsurvivors...t=401&stop=420 [PG-13 page ;-]

Robin has created a new form of logic that truly defies any sense of which I am aware.

Thanks for the article, Abelard!

To be honest, I think people need to stop coming down on Robin because of her religion.

why didn't she just try the illusion? she could have been wearing a little bathing suit.. and the audience would have known that she didn't really pose nude... c'mon... i thought it was a really stupid decision!!!

Further proof that Robin has no idea what she's talking about:

(18+ Warning - Links contain semi-nudity, of the tasteful variety)

Gisele 1

Gisele 2

Gisele 3 (A pose I don't think we'll see Robin doing anytime soon)

Those sure don't look like spy photos to me... and by the way, there are more explicit Gisele photos than those around the net.

Anyway, the point is that this is photographic evidence that Gisele would do and has done shoots as revealing as the one Robin was asked to do, so she needs to do some research and find a different (role) model to reference in her interviews.

Dang! It looks like my mom and dad installed Net Nanny and Cyber Partol on my computer again because I can't get those links to open up.

I've seen goodly portions of Gisele's anatomy in photos before, so I knew Robin didn't quite have it right. But it is possible that Gisele now has a rule against doing nudity. Some models do it early in their careers and not later.

The first pic wouldn't work for me. In the second pic, they managed to make Gisele's breast look weird. I like the third one best, in black and white. Very lively and a little silly.

By the way, both photos I saw were tame. This photo is gorgeous. Not nude.
