Maybe that's where I'm getting confused. So far the only thing I've seen mentioned is the AOL blurb. So you're saying that, even though the only thing mentioned is the blurb, people are intending other 'factors' to be included?

Although, as I think about it, this blurb wasn't from 'Team Archuleta'. So, how does that square up?

You're all about lifting the underdog, but will you seriously go out and buy his CD? And who really says that he is the underdog. He has a million screaming little kids that are more likely to call/text than adults

I agree completely! On a night of mediocre performances, going first may be a disadvantage, and going last may help you. But if a performance is great, it's going to generate the votes regardless. I have no idea where in the order Blake Lewis was when he did You Give Love a Bad Name, or where Melinda Doolittle was for Have a Nice Day, Kelly Clarkson for Stuff Like That There, or David Cook for Billie Jean. But I remember all of those performances, because they were great performances. When I hear a performance like that, I take note, and vote because it was just that good.

How did we get from a tiny 86 word blurb (about the Idol producers) on AOL, to a conspiracy on the part of 'Team Archuleta' (whoever they are) attempting to spin a POSSIBLE loss by David A. next week.
It's not just that blurb, though. It's a claim by someone named Richard Parkinson, apparently some close to David, that they had a different arrangement in mind for Longer. (This was in a radio interview, I believe.) It's an interview with his voice coach saying that he sounds better on camera than in person. What I'm seeing is these guys making excuses for David that aren't necessary.

I think Cookie has the edge... He has it in the bag. I don't have anything else to do on Weds. night, so I'm throwing my votes to Archie... He needs a break.
Yes, I will buy both Davids' CD's... How difficult is it to splurge & buy a $10.00 CD? I can afford that.... I want Archie to win now, but only because he doesn't deserve all the ridicule. Like I said Cookie is not God... Arch Angels to the rescue! Oh yeah... I forgot about text messages... Thanks for the reminder.

I don't see how Cook has it in the bag. Call me naive, but didn't everyone think Clay, Daughtry, Tamayra had it in the bag and they were either eliminated too early or lost? It's not about proving a point that you will vote for someone that doesn't deserve ridicule (I agree, he doesn't deserve it). It's about voting for the best person. Yes, Archie has a good voice. JMO

The AOL blurb isn't actually simply AOL. There was a link there to the NYMag blog that was claiming that Archuleta is now being "screwed"(their words) by the AI producers. It's a pretty lengthy, vitriolic article.

Leo.....Here is the article that you are referring to where Team Archuleta is screaming foul. But once again it also speaks to the complaints that many people have about the fact that Archie has outsiders sitting and making new arrangements for him where all of the other contestants have to either rearrange songs on their own or find one that has already been done. It's extremely possible that AI said no to this Richard Parkinson guy strictly BECAUSE they wanted to keep it at a level playing field. My claim, not theirs.

Re: David Archuleta - Season 7

I like them both, but going for the underdog. I'm comparing apples & oranges. Cookie's not getting a bad rap like Archie. Archie needs my votes more than Cook. I was going to vote for Cook, I was leaning that way, but a certain 17 yr. old needs my votes much more. I do not see many (if any) nasty comments in Cook's thread, so Archie needs my votes... He can count on me & the other 10 in the office... They're spreading the word as well... All the negativity about Archie just fires me up more. That's my incentive!

Cook definitely doesn't have it in the bag in terms of winning american idol---but I do think he has it in the bag in terms of success after idol. I think COok will far outsell archie--Archie has the love and adoration of the young teens, and some of the older folks (grandmas generally), but cook has something that is rare in the music business--he has girls, boys, young and old that like his music--archie--has women--cook has men and women--thus, more folks will be likely to go out and support cook because they like his style--not to mention he is more talented overall and it is quite clear what kind of album he will put out. Archie is a wonderful singer--and a cute little kid--but what kind of album will he put out? ballads? what kind? love songs? it's not clear--he also lacks originality and stage presence---i actually felt for him when he sang that chris brown song because it was a hot mess--but i do give him props for trying to be more contemporary and for attempting a more uptempo song finally. I don't think Archie will need help next week getting votes because youngins will spend far more time and energy voting and texting--and to be honest it doesn't really matter who wins the title--there will actually be 3 winners this season i believe--and archie isn't one of them. As we have seen in the past winning the title doesn't guarantee success--time will tell i suppose--but i do believe there will be 3 winners this season.
