Whenever his neighbors or whatever are interviewed, they all swear Archuleta is just like we see him on TV: sweet and earnest.

Back when I was 17, I admittedly would have been snide beyond snideness about him. Looking at him as an adult... I'd bet it's possible to have a conversation with him about church activities or what he's read lately but that drawing him out to speak frankly, rather than saying what the grown-ups want to hear, might require knowing him for a while.

While his singing annoys me profoundly, I attribute that not to his actual personality but to his having gotten his training when he was so young that it was logical to put together songs note-by-note and gesture-by-gesture, rather than starting with the meaning and working outward.

He just looks so cute when Natasha Bedingfield hugged and kissed him.

They did an interview with and a story on his vocal coach on the news the other day. The other kids they showed him coaching were singing inspirational type songs so we know where it comes from.

I'm so sick of this guy not saying ANYTHING, and just standing there and staring off into the distance as Ryan tries to pry SOMETHING out of him each week. He never says more than a few words at a time. C'mon kid, you're on AMERICAN IDOL...... TALK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like David A. I don't think he's boring or phony or any of that. I buy into the fact that he is a humble kid who has probably been bullied by his father into not saying anything at all.

Re: David Archuleta - Season 7

I am really so tired of this guy. He is boring, has zero personality and so predictable in the way he sings.

I actually place blame on the judges this time - save for Paula, believe it or not. Throughout the previous seasons, Simon moreso than Randy, would be brutally honest and call a spade a spade. However, when it comes to Archie, they heap on the praise as if he is the best male vocalist to ever emerge on the show. And this happens even when Archie turns in a very mediocre performance.

If someone else is pitchy or have their voice crack, the judges would let them have it. But for Archie, there have been more than one occassion where at least one of his notes are pitchy. Except for their critique during 'Another Day In Paradise', it seems like they have auto-tune fit into their ears everytime Archie takes the stage.

I seriously don't understand this.

You and me both. Don't get me wrong, the kid isn't a bad singer, but I don't know if he's ready for the big time yet. To me, he has no stage presence and basically only sings ballads...you can't make a career out of that. Although, maybe winning AI will shape him further as an artist...who knows. It would just be weird to me to have him win (obviously I want DC to win)...there's something not quite right with him.
