| Re: David Archuleta - Season 7 David A is sooooo not ready for prime time, imo. Great, little singer, pretty voice but zero performance skills. I can't imagine going to one of his concerts. As great as his voice is, all I get from him is Disney movie theme song singer.

| Re: David Archuleta - Season 7 It looked like he got distracted as he was trying so hard to keep his eyes open... I absolutely hated his performance, it was boring as hell and it screamed "Disney". He should really do something else for a change, we've seen this ballad-thing already! We've seen 10 performances from him and 6 or 7 of them have been same kind of ballads sung exactly the same way. And I don't understand why the judges aren't calling him for that as they usually criticize contestants when they're not coming out of their comfort zone. |

| Re: David Archuleta - Season 7 A theme for a Disney movie? Too much honor. How about being a singer in Disney Land, Japan. Thats more like it. He could play one of the seven dwarfs. ![]() What are their names? Dumpy, Lumpy? I'm not the dwarf expert. ![]() I have no idea how much credibility the judges want to keep losing, by continuing to praise this ongoing terrible charade. ![]() |

He also has no power or resonance in his lower range. He needs to get with a couple other kids and form a new boy band. Quote:
Syesha, David Cook, and even Carly all outperformed Archuleta last night IMO but none of them got the praise they deserved, in comparison to David A. David also flubbed his lyrics last night -- something the judges have skewered many others for -- but not one judge mentioned it.

| Re: David Archuleta - Season 7 Haha @ David A. speaking with Ryan on the results show. "...and... the thing... I was happy with what I did." ![]() I saw this comment on a YouTube video about David A., and it made me crack up! Soooo true. You can tell his desperately trying to tone down the factor.Quote:

| Re: David Archuleta - Season 7 Whenever Ryan talks to him, his unintelligible, brain dead responses kill me. He barely manages to shape the questions into an answer, word for word. It's like his brain is completely empty. DUHvid. |

| Re: David Archuleta - Season 7 Good for him. Seriously. If we're going to criticize him for starting out as the Peter Pan of Wholesomeness & Light, then in fairness, he deserves some praise for trying to moderate that. While I'm not going to insult a 17-year-old by saying that's too young to know who you are (plenty of teenagers are remarkably clear-headed on the subject), it is young enough to have limited experience in understanding how other people see you (especially if stage daddy was controlling the image). The show has handled Archuleta remarkably ineptly, with that parading of prepubescent girls on stage as the nadir of ridiculousness. What normal 17-year-old boy enjoys being crawled over by 12-year-olds? If they're determined to promote him as a teen heart-throb, for heaven's sake, have the respect to come up with some nice, wholesome, fresh-faced girls who are obviously 16-ish. I'd love to know if anyone in Archuleta's posse has thought ahead to what happens when puberty hits hard and he stops looking 12. What's the plan for the transition to adulthood? |

The problem with many child prodigies is, that there is no transition. The change happens from one day to the other. And then it's like seeing Mark Hamill, 20 years after Star Wars. ![]() I think he will release an album, which sales numbers are solely based on the Idol Thunder. And then he will drift off into obscurity ( as far as his career ). The only way he could have something substantial would be, if he was some sort of song writing genius. If he had his own material that makes him stand out as an individual. Archuletas act is just too limited to be anything else than what you see. Lets take Syesha for example. She won't be the Idol 08, she is very talented but others might have a more distinctive approach, and such. But she is versatile. I can see her singing on stage, being in a movie or on TV, doing commercials, you name it. She doesn't have to be a big star. But a continuing string of jobs and opportunities in show business, can give her a substantial career and a good life. Thats better than a one hit wonder.
