I think Beatles week when he forgot the words scared him and since then he decided to do only what he knows best. I think he's smart doing that because if it's working stick with it. Why try to please the people who would never vote for you anyway at the risk of losing those who vote for you religiously.

That could be partly true, although I think "We Can Work It Out" was also a ballad to some degree. Also David has been taking risks in his singing lately. Last night he sang in falsetto and during Dollywood week he hit his highest note ever (according to his singing coach in Salt Lake City) which was risky because it could've gone wrong. His risks are only noticeable to those that understand notes and such.

But ya, I hope he does a non-ballad song soon. I'm sure one of the judges are gonna pick a fast song if he makes it to the final 3.

I consider him as better singer than me and trust me, I can't sing

I'll give thumbs up for him still being able to sing after the vocal paralysis.

Prediction: Archuleta will not record an album of inspirational ballads. Archuleta will be positioned as a teen heart-throb of the boy band type. His Wonderboy for Peace, Love, and Understanding persona is to garner mass votes from as wide a demographic as possible. And he'll actually be fine doing fast songs in the studio, though his live performances will emphasize the slower stuff (or be lip-synced).

Never forget: Jordin Sparks did a season of inspirational ballads and was then repositioned as a teen R&B singer with a completely different sound.

I'm just now getting around to posting this. On Monday, my two year old daughter goes to music class (its just a bunch of preschoolers and toddlers). Anyways, the teacher was running late and she told that her friends from Utah were there to go to American Idol. Now, those friends are friends of the family to David Archuletta-in fact they were shown in the audience while he was singing. We got a chance to talk to them later on after class. The guy (I don't want to use names) has actually performed with David quite often for various events. If you search for David Archuletta signing Oh Holy Night on You tube this guy is the pianist. Anyways, this is what he said. He said that David really is just as humble and nice as he "acts". He said that he wasn't in choir in high school except for once and many of his friends didn't even know he sang until they saw him on American Idol. He has plenty of friends and was pretty popular in school. They said he really has his head on straight for a teenager and is just all around sweet. They also said that he pretty much makes the rounds for church meetings (musical numbers) where he is from. Oh, and they also talk to David and his dad quite often and were told that all the contestants have a really hard time hearing the judges after they perform. They said that when Paula told David that she wanted to squish his head off and hang him in her car (somethign like that) that David didn't hear what she said, but he laughed because the audience laughed. That gives new meaning to me that Brooke is always asking the audience to be quiet-maybe so she can hear their advice! Oh, and I know what he is singing next week, because this guy is doing the arrangement. I promised I wouldn't say though, sorry. Most people's guesses are off from what I've seen though.

I'm not so sure about the Jordin comparison, calamari. Jordin did songs like "Heartbreaker", "I (Who Have Nothing)", "Hey Baby", "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You", and "Livin' on a Prayer" - a nice mix of fun and upbeat songs (except for I Who Have Nothing) that I don't think are such a far cry from the music she is recording now. None of those songs can be called "inspirational ballads", IMO.

Here's a list of ALL the songs David, on the other hand, has performed (with a snippet of the lyrics in italics)

"When You Believe" - Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill; Who knows what miracles you can achieve
"Angels" - Wherever it may take me I know that life won't break me

They are all practically the same kind of song which preach "good messages" that he so loves.

His very first audition was "Waiting on the World to Change"! I can't see him doing anything else.

He's Inspirational Ballad Boy.
