Why? Because he's going to have been totally pigeonholed with "sweet" songs with soaring vocals by then. Maybe a change of pace might help him.

Or I suppose if he IS going to go in that direction, go for broke and do "Hey, Jude".
you're completely right.
those two songs would be great for him.

Re: David Archuleta - Season 7

Count me in as one of the people who don't understand what's so great about this kid. I don't know all the technical jargon that Randy and Paula try to throw out all the time, maybe the kid does hit the notes, but .. maybe it's his "tone" that I don't like? When people hit the notes ok but still don't sound good doing it? Is that "tone?" Whatever it is, it sounds like his voice could change at any second and he'll pull a Peter Brady. And his speaking voice is just plain goofy. I know he's young, but he's still had more experience singing in front of crowds than a lot of the other contestants so I'm not buying into the awkward "aw shucks" thing. That to me really seems like an act. And the way he teared up over the "beauty" of his own voice singing Imagine? Hilarious.

Again, if you don't like David's rendition of Imagine, I strongly suggest you listen to John Lennon's version.
Just my 2 cents

All I can say is the teeny-bopper crowd, the same ones who spend hours and hours texting and calling their votes in for their favs, are gonna go nuts over this boy, just like Sanjaya. At least this kid has talent and deserves to get far in the competition.

I like him. I think his version of Imagine was good. Different yes, but don't the judges always say, "Make the song your own"? To me he seems genuine and sincere, but that's just my opinion. He's not my personal favorite by far. I prefer someone more mature, but I've learned to accept the fact that my favorite never wins this competition. Then again, they sometimes show up the actual winner enough for me to be able to say, "told ya so!" (cough-chrisdaughtry-cough)

he's just adorable - that's what the craze is, but he's a decent singer, better than most of the guys there (except the other David)

Just wondering - which David?

David Cook (rocker guy, word nerd) or
David Hernandez (Papa Was A Rolling Stone?)

His fake modesty and butchering John Lennon. Wish the little pest would go away.

The first and second verses are explicitly anti-religion, the third verse more generic in theme.

The first verse states, imagine there's "no heaven . . . above us, only sky."

The second version, "no religion too."

Man... why the heck do you pick a John Lennon song if you can't tolerate John's beliefs? I mean you don't even have to agree, but you should at least be able to mouth the words.

I missed that little tidbit of crazy, i fast forwarded through his act to keep me from puking.
Reading that now makes me really sick.
