Amanda L. Overmyer - Season 7

I personally had high hopes for this girl when I first heard her audition. It thought she'd be a breath of fresh air in an already overcrowded sea of pop princess wannabees. However, I think she has quickly exposed herself to be a one-trick-pony. I'd love to hear her tone it all the way down and do a rock ballad and prove to us that she's got more up her sleeve than screehing and hollering.

i think she doesn't have the knowledge or creativity to know how to pick songs and get the most mileage out of her voice. instead of picking songs that showcase her voice, she picks her favorite rock songs. she should just stick to singing rock covers in dive bars in indiana, she's not meant for the big time.

I wouldn't pay a dollar to see her in a cover band at a seedy bar. You have to be able to sing and carry a tune to be in a band.

Simon wants to criticize Kady for lack of personality, where for me, this is the girl that truly doesn't seem to want to be there. I don't believe I have ever seen a more disinterested person in the history of the show. She never smiles, seems to hate the whole process, never appears as though she gives a rip one way or the other. Unfortunately, I think she is going to be around to take the place of someone that does want the experience.

Her audition caught my eye and I liked her in hollywood, but since hitting "the stage" it's been all downhill. She needs to step up big time, or just wave good-bye and head home.

I agree, razorbacker. I have yet to see this girl crack a smile when she is told that she is going on further. She seems so non-chalant about it all.

I think it is an extreme defense mechanism, which is sad. She's so young to be so jaded in life already.

You took the words right out of my mouth. It's a defense. A steel wall she's built around herself to protect herself. And it makes her come across as cold, uncaring, unfeeling and unemotional. I don't think it's intentional. She seems like a nice, down to earth girl nonetheless, as seen in her video clips.

LOVED her last performance.

I REALLY hope she can continue to find the right songs throughout the theme weeks. It might be a challenge, but I have faith that she can do it. Top 12 is Beatles week right? That should be fairly easy for Amanda to find a right song. I just hope there isn't a Disco week...

I'm trying. I just can't get into her. If there was ever a one trick pony in this contest, Amanda takes the cake. She's great in a .38 Special or Foghat cover band kind of way but I have a hard time seeing her whipping out some jazz hands and spirit fingers in a convincing manner should there be a Broadway week.
