Amanda L. Overmyer - Season 7 - Page 6

I had high hopes for her but they are fading. I don't think she can survive another week unless she really makes a good song choice and some changes in her appearance. Her look is dated and not a good interpretation of the style in the first place. There isn't time in the week to rehearse a new song and spend a few hours in a hair salon. Too bad. It would be refreshing to have a rocker win. Maybe next year.

All I have to say is... if I was in hospital and she came in at night, smiling and saying "I'm gonna give you an injection", I'd scream like nobody's business.

I think there are a whole lot of people who are crazily excited by the prospect of a true rock chick on American Idol, who are voting like crazy to keep her there in the hope that she'll kick ass and take names. Problem is we've pinned our hopes on someone who has the rocker look and the rocker sound, but really isn't that great a vocalist. I hope this doesn't sour Idol on the idea, though. I'm looking forward to future GREAT rockers on Idol.

She was terrible doing her part in the ( awful as usual ) group song.
I guess thats what you call a one trick pony.

I don't buy that. What Amanda has that the two girls sent home didn't is that she's memorable. Alaina got lost in the "4 blondes" and Alexandrea's performance was just forgettable. Amanda is unique. She has style, she has an identity, and at this stage, that's more important than a killer performance.

That said, Amanda will have to do much better if she wants to go much further in this competition, but I'm not convince she has it in her to do much better. I think she'll make top 12 (I think Kady will go home next week and Syesha or A'isha will join her because again they are too similar), but will be hard pressed to make the tour with the top 10.

I loved her in the auditions, but the last two performances haven't been great. I will be surprised if she makes it another week.
