Re: Motown next week

I just need to give a little tribute to Gedeon McKinney who was in an earlier season, just a 16-yr-old, but had such a Motown presence in all his songs that I think it's criminal he didn't get to make it this far during his season.

His voice was a mirror image of the Motown stars, ABSOLUTELY incredible. He got voted off the show somewhere in the teens, i.e. #16 or #13 or something. I think he mentioned God too many times and it freaked Simon out 'cuz Simon knows you can't make money selling God-talk. But Gedeon had so much better voice than many who lasted longer! Don't know what happened to that kid, but I hope he has ultimate happiness, and I selfishly hope he is still singing somewhere, with his incredible sound!!!!

They both should be singing something else then. Retreads are not good.

Boyz II Men were originally (and they may still be?) on Motown. I'd like to hear any of the guys take on a Boyz II Men song. Either Anoop or Sarver could probably do a great "Water Runs Dry."

Matt should do Stevie Wonder's "Hey Love." I'd like to hear Allison do "Nowhere to Run."

Alot of good possibilities. I'd like to hear Danny do "heard it through the grapevine", Matt do "Tears of a Clown", Scott do something by Stevie wonder, Kris-"What becomes of the Brokenhearted", Megan-Babylove, Lil will probably do something by the Supremes. Can't think of anything "edgy" enough for Adam.

After hearing the Brigadoon song recommended in his thread, I'd love to hear him do a ballad and blow the socks off America. Are there Motown ballads? I'm bummed it's on Wednesday this week. My daughter and I watch ANTM and Lost on Weds. I'll have to wait for them to hit the internet.

I guess I didn't really understand what motown is then. I thought motown was only in the era of the 60's and 70's (eg. Jackson 5, Diana Ross, Dreamgirls Soundtrack) and didn't include bands in the 90's. B2M sounds R&B to me. And two of their songs (I Swear and I Can Love You Like That) are actually country songs by John Michael Montgomery that they appropriated for themselves and put an R&B spin on them. BTW, I do like the B2M version of those songs and feel they did do them justice but I personally like JMM's version better.

Re: Motown next week

fireflyer, YES!! Gedeon was ROBBED by SIMON, who detroyed Gedeon's joy by mocking his SMILE! Every now and then I check his MySpace, but so far, no recording deal.

As for Adam: He can sing anything Smokey, Marvin, or David Ruffin ever did! OooOOOooooo, baby, baby,....
