But remember, the only reason that Clay is on the show right now is because he was *America's* wild card choice.

| Hi Folks, I am newbie. But I have been diligently reading this forum for about a week now. I think that the pressure is really on Simon not to 'blow it' (mishandle) Clay's career. It has become pretty clear that Simon kinda has had a British 'pop' thing that he has successfully promoted in the past. It was obvious that he doesn't understand the variety of genres that exist in America (re: country pop fiasco). Now he is presented with Clay - enormous, break-out talent!!!! who can sing almost any genre and make you melt. (Wouldn't you love to hear Clay sing some blues?) Clay's popularity also crosses all age groups. Previously, Simon has really been marketing only to one. In addition, Clay is educated. He has a 'fall back' career -- his ego and self-esteem is not glued to show business. In short, he could (heaven forbid!!) walk away. I think that I could go on but I will stop for now. Simon - I think the pressure is on you.

| I think they had to have known, or else Paula or someone would have picked him. He had the best performance of the night (Wild Card), I would have been shocked if he hadn't made it through.

| I heard some where that he was the judges' top pick. Since he was America's wildcard choice, they picked other people ... Which is pretty much what lobeck said, but I just thought I'd mention it, too.

| you know going back to the dubbing thing on the cd. simon knows how they can alter voices while recording. and he keeps talking about recording artists "he's looking for recording artists" so to be a recording artist you don't need that great of a voice at all. a nice image, a nice voice and your set. Clay has an incredibly powerful and clear voice he needs no help from technology. so he is more talented then your everyday recording artist. a broadway artist acually has it tougher cause you got no mike, you function strictly off your own natural talent. but if you ask me i would much rather buy a cd with a natural voice like clay's on it. so much more emotion comes out of it. |

| you get a mic when you're onstage in Broadway...don't you see it glued to their hair or costume...I always do... a little black spec on their face or costume... but i suppose this is a totally irrelevent point. |

| Unchained Melody was GRRRREAT-- Wow! I'm still waiting for my fantasy-- an all-out AI "Unchained Melody" sing-off... The remaining contestants, or just Ruben and Clay-- sing the hell out of the song...until the world spontaneously combusts. |

| hey all, big clay fan here, and love to see all the clay love going on...it makes me believe that he's still up there, because there is still a lot of people pulling for him....i would like to say a couple things, this is the second time i posted i think, and i have a lot to get off my chest ![]() first off.....i dont think that Clay's fan base is shrinking. I think that a lot of people in the media are pulling for him so that makes people think that everybody and their brother is voting for him. I think he's up there too, but i dont think that he neccessarily has a lot of more fans above Clay...I dont believe clay is losing fans, I go around on sites here online and I see 131 pages for clay on message boards, I see numerous fan sites, I see people the last two weeks rating clay and kim L as 1 and 2, and I see so much other "fan stuff" going on, and its great to see, and gives me some relief because i was scared when i heard people on TV saying Ruban this, and Ruban that" Im not anymore, cause i have no doubts that we will see Clay in weeks to come giving us good reason to love him. second, I hope that people arent giving up on Clay because of all the "Ruban Love" because this is the time that we need to vote like crazy, If we give up on him winning then he wont, but if we dont, and we vote even harder then he could be the next american Idol...and isnt that what clay fans want??? third, why does the american idol have to be a pop star? who made that rule? There are many "american idols" in the world today who arent pop stars....isnt it great that we choose? they might like Ruban, but we choose....Clay can win this competition...! fourth, the last couple of weeks even when simon said some criticism about clay, its never been about his voice...he's actually only said bad things once..(.i think dont get mad if im mistaken cause i can only remember his "terrible" disco night) anyways, 3 weeks ago he was "right on the money", 2 weeks ago he said he prefered clay with his eyes closed, but he still said that he has a great voice, last week he said that he doesnt seem to fit what theyre looking for in this competition(doesnt fit what simons looking for, but fits what were looking for right??? ) but like Ryan said, focus on the well done, simon still thinks he's a great singer, he still puts him in the top two, he's basically just giving him his opinion.....but did you notice how many people booed when simon said that....they dont agree!and lastly,(for now ) Ive noticed that when people have signs they have ruban and clay, one on each side so why are we dissing one or the other instead of saying ruban has a great voice, but for me clay is better...or Clay has a good voice, but I think Ruban will win.....if you dont think they have a good voice then that is obviously fine....but how would you feel if one of them were reading your post and read some of the things posted.....( by the way, i see clay fans might be meaner here, but Ruban fans are pretty mean on the bolt boards) I loved comming to these boards because they were always so positive...lets not stray from that.....![]() and on a happy ending...keep loving Clay, lusting after him if you so wish:p dont be scared for him.....he has just as good of a chance as Ruban does......the reason i want him to win is so he can have that experience, not because i dont think great things will happen for him if he doesnt....have any of you been runner up in something?????kinda dissapointing isnt it...so lets make clay the winner!!! sorry for rambling, all my posts wont be this long I promise![]()
