| The new album is scheduled for a fall release. ( I expect to hear the first single sometime late July or early August, but I also expect to hear her sing some of the new stuff this June in Nashville at CMA Music Fest or at the Opry) No word yet on a specific date. She is in the studio & posted a blog on her fansite two days ago, that they had been laying down musical tracks for 3 songs just the day before. She sounded really jazzed about the way it was going. I honestly think the album will easliy pass the 500,000 mark on the first week of release. |

| Seems as though Carrie is a good reason for an economic upturn is some folks lives. Behind Music Row: Banker's career began with love of music By RYAN UNDERWOOD Staff Writer One of the best-known faces on Music Row belongs not to a performer, a songwriter, a label executive, or a producer, but to a banker. Lisa Harless, a 21-year veteran of the Music Row practice started by First American National Bank in 1983, now heads the entertainment and sports division that has become part of the newly combined Regions and AmSouth banks. For the first time, Regions signed on this year as the title sponsor of the 15-year-old Tin Pan South songwriters festival, which wraps its week of songwriter showcases in Nashville on Saturday night. For Harless, the daughter of a West Tennessee preacher who moved to Nashville in 1978 to take a job at Lipscomb University, music has always played a key role in her life. "But I never thought seriously about pursuing a music career," Harless said. After getting hired by Aetna insurance shortly after graduation, she eventually found her way into First American's underwriting department. Then as her colleagues listened to her incessant talking about music, they suggested that she might enjoy life in the bank's new Music Row practice. Harless said it was new but exciting territory. One of the first things she helped engineer were advance royalty loans for songwriters. "So if you've got a songwriter who is going from making $12,000 this year to $212,000 next year thanks to a major Carrie Underwood hit, you want to help them go ahead and get to live that lifestyle," Harless said. That's just one of the many special financial situations facing a wide range of professionals in the music industry, from performers and producers to video makers and sound engineers, she said. Asked how the 2006 merger between AmSouth and Regions has affected her life, Harless said: "Before, we were busy. Now, we're really busy." Nashville, Tennessee - - Tennessean.com |

| Thanks! I didn't know Carrie had the power to advance royalty loans for songwriters. Hmmm. Well, well done Carrie for doing that too! Haha. ![]()

Most of a writers income comes from royalties, everytime a radio station plays a song they have to pay royalties & most of those royalties go to the songs writers. That is why a lot of writers will give partial writing credit to a singer just to get their songs recorded. It happens all the time. You will see an artist given partial writing credit so that they can collect some of the royalties when in fact they had no hand in writing the song, but otherwise the writer may not have gotten anyone to sing it. | |

| Oh... well, what I meant was, I didn't know that in doing what she does, Carrie influences things like royalty loans, though thinking through it, it makes sense. Thanks for the explanation! I did not know about partial writing credit. FORT is really educational. ![]()

| Royalty payments are pretty intense. We have a guy that lives in my town, he was one of the co-writers of the Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffett song Five O'Clock Somewhere & his royalties from that one song even as a co -writer made him a millionaire. So you can see why a writer would give up partial credit to get their music recorded. There is a woman that has written a ton of songs for George Straitt, he always gets huge radio play, & almost always hits number 1, so I have no doubt that she is a multi millionaire, & I can't even remember her name. Or John Rich from Big & Rich, just look at the Country Charts sometime & at least one of his songs is almost always in the Top 40. |

| It is shaping up as a pretty amazing Chart Run for Carrie with Before He Cheats & Wasted climbing multiple charts at the same time. Just look at last weeks ending results & this week she will be even higher on most of these. Wasted: #3 on the Country Singles Chart #41 on the Hot 100, #34 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart #58 on the Pop 100 #41 on Hot Digital Tracks #47 on Hot Digital Sales Before He Cheats #30 on the Hot 100 #30 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart #24 on the Pop 100 #26 on the Pop 100 Airplay chart #22 on Hot Digital Tracks #24 on Hot Digital Songs #18 on the Adult Top 40 And the interesting this is that BHC has even gotten some spins on R&B & Rock stations. |

| This mornings standings show Wasted has moved to #2 on the Country Charts with a big bullet of 267. It’s looking possible that by this time next week Carrie could have another #1 hit. lw TW Artist Title TW lw Move A/I 2 1 TIM MCGRAW Last Dollar 4599 4411 188 40.204 3 2 CARRIE UNDERWOOD Wasted 4486 4219 267 39.014 Below is the information for Before He Cheats on the Top 40 & Hot AC Charts. Top 10 in both of these formats looks really possible. Notice the amount of Spins she is getting on the Top 40 stations. All formats combined would probably show 7,000 – 8,000 spins a week, the song is still getting upwards of 1700 on Country Stations. | I must say it happened a bit sooner than I expected, but as of this mornings Mediabase update, Carrie has another #1 hit with Wasted. And from the looks of things, it may just be there for a while. The only 2 songs that are showing a bigger spin increase are from Brad Paisley & George Straitt & they are all the way back at #14 & 19 respectively & a big reason for the big increases for them is that they are realitively new songs & are starting from a much smaller base. lw TW Artist Title TW lw Move A/I 3 1 CARRIE UNDERWOOD Wasted 4650 4288 362 40.137 2 2 TIM MCGRAW Last Dollar 4655 4456 199 40.538 14 BRAD PAISLEY Ticks 2476 2100 376 22.001 19 GEORGE STRAIT Wrapped 2071 1634 437 17.426 It looks like 3 weeks from now will put Before He Cheats at the Platinum level for downloads. The song had a 10% increase in sales week over week & ended up with 35,846 (32,707 last week) for a total of 918,491. |
