ouch on that article. especially since it is from his home state.

but like what the reviewer said - its the material not the artist. he is an incredible artist (dont know why his record/management decided to rush it). he'll come back with a new album with better material.

well. i got the cd as a xmas gift. decided to open it since i already had a feeling what it was...and was right. lol. got my friend carrie's cd cause she hates country...ill post in carries thread on her reaction.

as for bo's cd. went through it once nonstop. it sounded similar...majority of the songs. its an alright cd but like i said something i wouldn't purchase myself.

there is only one song i quite enjoy...its my life...where he has writing credits for. i uploade its my life to my mp3 player. other than that, eh. but his voice is incredible, just too bad the material isn't that great. but he made the best of it to put a decent effort.

hopefully the 2nd one will be better. those of you who are afraid of there's not being a 2nd album...dont fear. he'll have one. they compromised this cd to be more pop/rock radio friendly to gain fans from the pop/rock teen bands out there and for sales purpose. his next effort will be better...i know it will. i have a feeling it will.

Bo Bice hospitalized with complications from surgery

LAS VEGAS — "American Idol" runner-up Bo Bice was rushed to a hospital with complications from intestinal surgery, a publicist for his record label said Monday.
Bice, 30, became ill on Sunday while rehearsing for a performance on the 2005 Radio Music Awards at the Aladdin Resort & Casino, said Roger Widynowski, a publicist for RCA Records.
"He didn't collapse but was rushed to the hospital," Widynowski said. "Bo is doing fine, and he's going back to Nashville today for treatment."
The Goo Goo Dolls will replace Bice in Monday night's live broadcast on NBC, said Carrie Simons, a spokeswoman for the network.
Bice was in Las Vegas with other "Idol" contestants in August when he underwent emergency surgery to repair a blocked intestine. The recovery time forced him to stop touring with the show.
Bice finished second on last season's "Idol" behind Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood. He released his first album, "The Real Thing," last week.

I posted this in Carries thread, but since many of you may not read it over there I thought I would also put it here. As you can see Bo had a good debut week & came in at #4 with 227k sold. Carrie, Bo & Kelly all in the top 10 speaks pretty well of the talent AI is introducing to the world.

That boy needs to slow down and let himself recouperate. I know he wants to strike while the iron is still lukewarm, but his health is more important. Poor Bo!

I have taped and watched everything I could find on him lately, and I really don't like that new song he's been singing everywhere. It's just so forgettable. I am very happy that he has a strong debut in the charts, and I hope that future albums show us more of the Bo we saw on AI.

Readers responded viscerally and thoughtfully - in some cases, immediately - to my recent review of Bo Bice's debut CD, ''The Real Thing.''

Internet bulletin boards devoted to the ''American Idol'' runner-up have been buzzing: pro, con and in between.

Over the past couple of weeks, I've also received e-mails from across the country and Canada, displaying a similar range of opinions. Some have agreed with my comments - basically, that Bice, 30, deserves better material and the chance to make a personal artistic statement. Others have defended the disc, raved about the Alabama-born singer or pointed out my absolute ignorance.

A sampling of the messages appears below. The Birmingham News did not solicit opinions from Bice's fans; merely asked those who wrote to me if they'd be willing to have their words published here, and tell us their full names and hometowns.

Bo Bice's CD: I admire how you tell it like it is. Poor Bo is the victim of greedy record company people. Maybe he will stick with the classics next time. Kathy Drew, Vestavia Hills

Rush to release didn't suck color, life out of Bo's album: I totally disagree with your review. I love this CD . . . not because it's Bo, but because I love the songs. I think expecting Bo to be able to bring about the ''second coming'' of '70s rock on his first album out of ''American Idol'' is an unrealistic expectation that a lot of people seem to have.

I just think recommending that people not buy the album is harsh. Have you listened to the ''stuff'' that is out on Top 40 radio? This album is stellar compared to 99.9 percent of that stuff.

Review of Bo Bice's CD: I read your review of Bo Bice's CD ''The Real Thing.'' While I do agree with some of your comments, I feel the review was particularly harsh.

I feel that many of the tracks are overproduced, sometimes covering up Bo's amazing voice. I think Bo does a good job singing the material that he is given, but for all the big names, Bo's own material is stronger. I do hope that RCA pays attention to the reviews.

I do hope you will take the opportunity to review that DualDisc. The DVD side of the DualDisc contains three of Bo's original songs along with acoustic performances. The DVD side is amazing. Please take the time to check out the DVD of the DualDisc.

The news isn't very good for Bo as The Real Thing has dropped out of the Top 50 this week. He should get the Gold certification pretty soon though.

Unfortunately, I think we are seeing Bo get the same treatment that was given to Diana. Give them a producer (Clive Davis) that tries to remake them in an image that he prefers. Watch the critics pummel the effort, then just stop promoting it in any way. This is absolutely shameful & I truly hope Bo moves on to other companies & other producers for his next effort.

The Fox Reality channel is replaying last years Idol shows & on Monday they showed the night Bo did Whipping Post. That was the Bo that woke up the fanbase & Clive & company have just squashed him. Just my opinion, I know there are some here that like the new album & I hope we see a turnaround for him. He deserves better.
