Re: Idol sales totals from USA Today

Here are this weeks sales figures. The second Daughtry era has begun.

Daughtry's 'Leave This Town' tops Idol sales - Idol Chatter - USATODAY.com

Daughtry's 'Leave This Town' tops Idol sales

Daughtry's Leave This Town tops the Idol sales list this week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, with nearly 270,000 sales. The band also has two songs -- You Don't Belong and Life After You -- debut among the top 200 of the digital tracks downloads.

Also, Brooke White makes her debut with High Hopes & Heartbreaks, which was available digitally exclusively through iTunes last week. It sold nearly 10,000 albums, and her cover of the Kings of Leon's Use Somebody sold more than 15,000 downloads. The CD version of Brooke's album is available this week.

Albums:

Daughtry, Leave This Town (269,000, debut, 269,000 total/63,000 digital total)
Soundtrack, Hannah Montana 3 (73,000, -47 percent, 211,000/5,000 digital, -67 percent, 20,000)
Various Artists, American Idol Season 8 (10,000, -11 percent, 35,000)
Brooke White, High Hopes & Heartbreak (10,000, debut, 10,000, all digital)
Kelly Clarkson, All I Ever Wanted (6,000, -22 percent, 649,000/1,000 digital, -11 percent, 138,000)
Kellie Pickler, Kellie Pickler (6,000, -2 percent, 272,000)
Carrie Underwood, Carnival Ride (6,000, -12 percent, 2.930 million)
David Cook, David Cook (5,000, +12 percent, 1.205 million/1,000 digital, +39, 148,000)
Carrie Underwood, Some Hearts (3,000, -14 percent, 6.815 million)
Adam Lambert, Season 8 Favorite Performances (less than 1,000, -4 percent, 35,000, all digital)

Also, while I don't have full totals for the sales of Daughtry's debut album, it sold nearly 2,000 copies digital, a 93% increase, bringing the set's cumulative digital total to 374,000)

Digital Tracks:

Jordin Sparks, Battlefield (Main Version) (54,000, +9 percent, 443,000 total)
Daughtry, No Surprise (49,000, +33, 494,000)
Kellie Pickler, Best Days of Your Life (33,000, -1 percent, 640,000)
Daughtry, You Don't Belong (24,000, debut, 24,000)
Kelly Clarkson, I Do Not Hook Up (21,000, -15 percent, 552,000)
Hannah Montana feat. David Archuleta, I Wanna Know You (19,000, -45 percent, 52,000)
Brooke White, Use Somebody (15,000, debut, 15,000)
David Cook, Come Back to Me (14,000, +9 percent, 274,000)
Kelly Clarkson, My Life Would Suck Without You (12,000, -7 percent, 2.019 million)
Daughtry, Life After You (8,000, debut, 8,000)
Rascal Flatts, Here Comes Goodbye (8,000, +1 percent, 530,000)

Bonus sales numbers -- and free downloads, too!

Because it's a big Daughtry week, what with the new album and all, Nielsen SoundScan has given Idol Chatter a whole bunch of sales data on the band. Daughtry's debut album has cumulative sales of 4.49 million, and here are figures for some of the band's most popular downloads:

It’s Not Over: 2 million
Home: 1.8 million
Over You: 1.2
What About Now: 597,000
Feels Like Tonight: 718,000

Plus, I've followed up on some of your requests regarding Clay Aiken and Mandisa -- and I've got news on free downloads from Brooke White and Phil Stacey!

Because you asked, here are the current sales totals for Clay Aiken's album catalog:

Measure of a Man: 2.78
Merry Christmas With Love: 1.37
A Thousand Different Ways: 530,000
On My Way Here: 163,000
All Is Well: Songs for Christmas: 53,000
Playlist: The Very Best of Clay Aiken: 7,000

Also, Mandisa's Freedom album has sold 21,000 copies, and Brooke White's set of pre-Idol recordings, Songs From the Attic, has sold 17,000. By the way, Amazon currently offers a free download of one of that album's tracks, Follow Me. You can also get Phil Stacey's latest single, You're Not Shaken, for free there, too.

Daughtry's 'No Surprise' stays on top; Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks make moves

I've arrived in New York, where I'll be seeing Rock of Ages and the David Cook concert Thursday at the Nokia Theatre Times Square, but I haven't forgotten about this week's American Idol airplay numbers. I'm not yet sure if I'll be able to see any of Friday's Good Morning Americaconcert in Central Park featuring David, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. I'm supposed to be at work around that time, but I'll see how things work out. (If they don't, I hope one of you will go and post about it.)

It's kind of a slow week on the chart, with the top three positions remaining the same. Daughtry's on top, followed by Jordin Sparks and Kellie Pickler. Kelly Clarkson rounds out the Top 5 with the fourth and fifth spots.

Further down the Mediabase-powered chart, Kelly's Already Gone is picking up steam, as it moves from #57 to #42 with 320 spins. And Jordin's S.O.S. (Let the Music Play) moves up 10 spots from #79 to #69.

If you are talking about the list just above you, that isn't anything to do with sales...it's radio spins.

Re: Idol sales totals from USA Today

The above sales chart either:

1) Shows true graphic evidence of how far the CD market has dropped or

2) Jordin is in big time trouble. 2 weeks worth of sales nets only 66K. That can't be good.

This weeks sales figures from USA Today.

Idol Chatter: American Idol News, Rumors, & Information

On the sales side this week, Daughtry continues to have the best-selling American Idol release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. At its current pace, Leave This Town could pass the half-million mark in next week's data. Jordin Sparks' Battlefield single has begun to slip, but it remains the most-downloaded Idol-related digital track.

The only thing addition to our list this week is WalMart's American Idol Season 8 EP, which makes its debut with just over 24,000 sales. The EP contains five tracks from this season's four top finalists: Kris Allen and Danny Gokey's Renegade, Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert's Slow Ride, as well as Adam's Whole Lotta Love, Danny's What Hurts the Most and Kris' Ain't No Sunshine.

Seriously?!?! Renegade?!?! Hey, I like Kris and Danny's music, but how many people are dying to relive one of the low points of Season 8?

I wonder whether Gokey's infernal scream of death is included as a bonus track...

Re: Idol sales totals from USA Today

Here is the sales data for the past week.

Daughtry's 'Leave This Town' passes the half-million mark - Idol Chatter: American Idol News, Rumors, & Information

Daughtry's 'Leave This Town' passes the half-million mark

Daughtry remains the top American Idol album seller this week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The 38,000 units Leave This Town moved, while down 14 percent over the previous week, was enough to push it past the half-million mark in its fifth week of release. Only 30 other albums have sold more than 500,000 copies this year. (One of those, of course, is Kelly Clarkson's All I Ever Wanted, at 675,000.)

And here's something I'd think has to be encouraging for Daughtry: Leave This Town has sold 514,000 units, while single No Surprise has sold 637,000 downloads. That's a sales ratio of 1:1.2. Compare that with Jordin Sparks' Battlefield album and single (1:8.8) or Kellie Clarkson's All I Ever Wanted and My Life Would Suck Without You (1:3.1), and it suggests an audience for Daughtry that's much more interested in the artist than in just the radio hits.

Albums:

Daughtry, Leave This Town (38,000, -14 percent, 514,000 total/4,000 digital, -26 percent, 99,000 digital total)

Soundtrack, Hannah Montana 3 (28,000, -18 percent, 367,000/1,000 digital, -21 percent, 28,000)

Various, American Idol Season 8 EP (28,000, +13 percent, 52,000)

Jordin Sparks, Battlefield (8,000, -24 percent, 85,000/16,000 digital total)

Kelly Clarkson, All I Ever Wanted (7,000, +9 percent, 674,000/1,000 digital, -10 percent, 143,000)

Kellie Pickler, Kellie Pickler (5,000, -12 percent, 294,000)

Carrie Underwood, Carnival Ride (5,000, -12 percent, 2.950 million)

David Cook, David Cook (4,000, -4 percent, 1.223 million/151,000 digital total)

Daughtry, Daughtry (4,000, -13 percent, 4.513 million/377,000 digital total)

Various, American Idol Season 8 (4,000, -26 percent, 58,000)

Carrie Underwood, Some Hearts (3,000, -16 percent, 6.828 million)

Chris Botti, Chris Botti Live in Boston (2,000, +8 percent, 129,000)

Digital Tracks:

Jordin Sparks, Battlefield [Main Version] (60,000, -8 percent, 746,000)

Daughtry, No Surprise (31,000, -5 percent, 637,000)

Kelly Clarkson, Already Gone (26,000, +10 percent, 152,000)

Kellie Pickler, Best Days of Your Life (20,000, -20 percent, 743,000)

David Cook, Come Back to Me (9,000, -15 percent, 318,000)

Kelly Clarkson, My Life Would Suck Without You (9,000, -10 percent, 2.062 million)

Kelly Clarkson, I Do Not Hook Up (9,000, -20 percent, 604,000)
