Ah, this is why I love American Idol. The guy hasn't even made top 12 yet and people are already finding controversies to discount him as an artist or either calling him the next big thing.

He does tend to have a nasally voice but it makes his image more compact to the adoring masses, if that makes sense at all. At least his voice doesn't have that "grating" quality a la Fantasia's.

In other words... David would actually probably be a step up, even if he IS this generation's version of Barry Manilow. Because you can't go "down" from Miley Cyrus and the Jonas'. Just try listening to them once or twice and see if you don't lose your lunch.

I absolutely love this young man. He has such a true tone to his voice and such a way with phrasing. Unbelievable!!! From reading the board, it appears he is one of those that generates either love or hate. Interesting. It always surprises me, and I always have to tell myself that these people are on a reality tv show by choice, knowing that plenty of people will put a great deal of energy into discrediting them...dissing them...whatever. To some extent, any attention is good attention, I suppose.

My personal opinion...Go get 'em David!!! Love it!!!

From the performances last night, David's was probably one of the very best. At least he is on tune.

I think David is amazing. His voice honestly makes me melt. I can't stop listening to him singing Imagine. I'm just worried that they're going to go harder on him because of his good performances early on.

Miley & the Jonas Bros. are tweener stuff. Trust me. David, I think, would fit in to the tween fan category as well. Yes, yes, he's a very talented vocalist, but what chance does he have of building an adult fan base at such a young age? His audience will be very young girls, maybe age 9 to 14. Nothing wrong with that, anyway - he can grow into an adult career, perhaps along the lines of someone like Josh Groban.

I liked David just fine, but I have to agree with the judges, he needs to do something upbeat once in a while. His vocals are always right on, but I think he must have had a case of seriously dry lips last night. He licked them about 103,000 times.

This kid is killing me.....

I LOVED him during auditions and Hollywood, but his song choices are boring me to tears, the gasping is distracting, and the lip licking last night even moreso......he is falling instead of gaining ground with me.

I'm hoping he shines next week because I really "want" to want him in the finale.
