Amanda L. Overmyer - Season 7 - Page 10

I can't imagine watching a 90 minute Amanda concert . . . Joplin does the Beatles. . . Joplin does Celine. . . Joplin does. . . whoever. Amanda is such a one trick pony, the same sound and the same stance on stage each week.

I do have to say that her look was a little softer this week.

Point is...Pat Benetar and Joan Jett could both outsing Joplin, IMO. So to say she sounds like Joplin in my opinion, isnt positive.

She doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning, her days are numbered, but until she's eliminated, I don't mind putting up with her way of performing. At least she's interesting. She's not the worst of the 12 by a long shot.

I totally agree with this statement BoBo....we may not agree on Carly but we do agree on Amanda!

Closer to the worst than she is to the best though.

I'm not an Amanda fan, but I did like her Beatles cover.

Anyhow, I've got to disagree with you here. Benatar and Jett aren't icons like Joplin, whose voice helped define an era. I think Benatar and Jett are extremely talented, but they're not in the same league as Joplin. (And I don't think Amanda sounds like Joplin--though she's trying hard to imitate her.) A lot of people can technically outsing others. Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Chistina Aguilera could outsing Joplin, as well as most of my favorite bands...but that doesn't mean I like their style. Mick Jagger technically has a horrible voice but I like a lot of his music... Rod Stewart--another horrible technical voice...but "Maggie Mae" is one of the best songs of its era...

Benetar and Jett were icons in the 70's/80's era of rock/pop music.

Janis Joplin was before their time, even.
