I liked his version also. It was a unique twist to the song. It was a risk that paid off.

He doesn't remind me of either RJ or Justin, other than they all have similar colored skin. RJ and Justin both had paper thin voices, while this guy's is very strong. Nonetheless, I agree with Lobes, though I'd go a little further; this guy bugs me to no end. I think he just seems too cocky, especially with the way his eyes are often half-open as if he can't be bothered to pay full attention to the triviality around him. The hats also rub me wrong. Personally, I find them silly and possibly incorrectly sized. IMO, it seems like an unsuccessful throwback to the Fame era performance feel, which seems like a bad move when you're on American Idol.

He does have a very impressive voice, and the way he treats his mother is nice. I could see him growing on me despite my misgivings.

I actually love Mario (if you haven't read my sig. yet) and hope he goes far. He's one of the better guys IMO and his personality, style, and whole "package" appeals to me the most. He's my early favorite. (always subject to change)

I like Mario too. His smile is extremely sexy and he has a nice voice. And those eyes.... Too early to tell, but he is one of my early favorites (with Lindsey, Travis, Anwar and Carrie) and would have been extremely disappointed if he didn't make it to the final 24. Actually look forward to hearing them all next Monday/Tuesday and see more of the finalists we haven't had too much footage of. Looks like it's going to be a good year--I like the assortment and love that we will be able to see them perform at least three times before the final 12. Hopefully, this eliminates some of the "one song" wonders.

I know all of you have said that he stands out, but I honestly don't remember him. And, I've seen all of the shows (well, I had the TV on, but getting a 21-month-old who doesn't like to sleep ready for bed can make me miss some things), so I'm wondering if he's just not my type. I can't wait to hear him sing on Monday to see if I'm wrong.
