| Not I, I hated the cheezy boy band voice and the tilted hat from the start, and I would've picked him to go before, among other people, nikko, anthony, jessica, and even scott... |

| http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Vazquez Mario Vazquez From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Mario Vazquez, a 27-year-old from New York City, competed on American Idol's fourth season, airing on the FOX network in early 2005. After making it into the final round of twelve contestants, Vazquez mysteriously and suddenly dropped out of the competition for "personal reasons" a few days before the finals started. He was replaced by Nikko Smith, who had previously been voted out. Some believed that Mario quit the show in order to avoid the highly restrictive contracts that the final twelve must sign. Vazquez, however, appeared Monday morning on "Good Day New York," on New York's FOX 5, and squashed rumors of a feud with "American Idol" producers or any of his competitors. "'American Idol' was only positive. They were only wonderful to me, from the beginning through the middle, to the end," he told the show. "It had nothing to do with the contract or anything at all. I just needed to take care of some things in my life that needed to be focused on." Other rumors indicate that he has a close attachment with a stylist named Marc Menna at the Warren-Tricomi salon on 57th St., where Vazquez once worked briefly as a receptionist. The two men are said to be involved in an intimate relationship which was threatened when Vazquez claimed to have 'nobody special' in his life during an American Idol taping. To appease his boyfriend and to keep his lifestyle in the closet, Mario withdrew from the competition. Further buttressing this conclusion is the fact that, while Vazquez told TV Guide on Sunday his withdrawal was for "family reasons," New York's FOX affiliate contacted the singer's mother and she was unaware that her son had left the show. He currently now lives in Phoenix, Arizona.

| http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/152...headlines=true As "American Idol" mania captures the country for the fifth consecutive year, the only finalist to ever quit the show is closing in on his attempt to break out on his own. Mario Vazquez, who dropped out after making the final 12 last season is nearly finished with his debut album for J Records, home to the last three "Idol" winners. "It's coming out wonderfully," Vazquez said. "We're just finishing up. Should be done probably at the end of March." After starting the record working with Soulshock and Karlin (Usher), the Underdogs (Fantasia) and Lester Mendez (Shakira), Mario has recently logged studio time with Ne-Yo, Scott Storch, the Luney Tunes (Don Omar) and Kerry "Krucial" Brothers (see "Alicia Keys Collaborator Kerry 'Krucial' Brothers Preps EP"). With the latter, he's talking about bringing in Alicia Keys for a cameo. Meanwhile, his first single, "Gallery," features Baby Bash and will be released in English and Spanglish. "I don't want to give too much away, but lyrically it's just longing love, lost love, wanting love," Vazquez said of the tune. "You can't go wrong with love." The still-untitled album is tentatively set for a mid-summer release. Mario hopes to tour around that time. "It's just amazing that I've had the opportunity to work with those guys," Vazquez said. "I'm excited and blessed." ![]()

| What the hell is that on his head? The Daniel Boone/ Davy Crockett look just doesn't do it for me. ![]()

| Hmm. So Mario quits the show and gets signed by a BMG company anyway (same label as 2 winners) and now is releasing an album just a few mo. before this year's winners. Interesting, isn't it? (I don't think he would have won if he had stayed either.) |

| This guy had lots of pitch problems on the show, don't know how releasing an album will do him any good?

| Meh. I wanted him to win but he decided to withdraw so now I'm never going to buy his CD and well, thank goodness he made way for a real good winner, Carrie! *sticks tongue out rudely* Seriously though, I think his career will be total flop. Riding the AI wave to dump it when he thinks he has enough exposure and cite personal reasons in an effort to shrug it off? Not for me. ![]()
