I realize his previous recording was before the show, however, the producers and/or Mario may have felt it's sudden re-issuance would make things very sticky for him, and he was either booted off, as my article said, or chose to gracefully resign rather than undergo legal complications, pressure and unpleasantness from them. I think it far more likely Mario was not at fault, and did not hire a lawyer out of greed, but that he wanted to free himself from the contract all the finalists signed a week before, as long as he was forced out, so he could freely continue his career.

I'll stand by wishing him every success and what I've said unless some new "news" that is not rumor overturns what I found and shows differently. He deserves the support. The article did state that he was booted over that cd re-emerging, which, if true, is a real shame. However, my slant on things doesn't change if he chose to go because they let him know it would be complicated and unpleasant for him, legally, with that cd coming out again, to stay.
The minute I heard the guitarist was re-releasing his CD with Mario mentioned I suspected this was the reason and not Mario's fault. Thanks.

I read somewhere that Mario is thisclose to signing with one of two labels. Which is good for Mario fans, I guess, but makes it look more and more like he just got on this show merely for publicity and had no intentions of being with the Top Twelve in the first place.

Hmm. I loved Mario. I voted for him and I got charmed by him hehe.

But.. part of the charm for me with all my favorites is to watch them grow through the American Idol journey. I wanted to see him on the big stage and I wanted to boo Simon for anything bad he could say to him! lol..

It just wouldn't be the same if he had a CD out now. :\

Hmmm, I think that's fair, though. Every single one of these competitors is here to get famous, get a record deal. If Mario got his already, then excellent. It worked like it was supposed to. It's not like the AI winners are resulting in fabulous careers anyway. Mario may have a less restrictive deal w/ Sean Combs, anyway. And, it would be illogical for him to turn down a sure deal w/ BadBoy for just a 10% chance of a deal with AI.

He could have sold more records if he stayed on the show and had more airtime.

I'm not a serious fan of Fantasia, but I would like to point out that she A) Has a platinum CD, B) won Outstanding Female Artist in the 36th Annual NAACP Image Awards, C) Her stats on the Top 40 Charts are fairly impressive: Number of songs: 4 Total weeks on charts: 107 Appearing in a total number of: 13 charts Total period running: 393 days

Ruben isn't doing too poorly either! His Top 40 Charts stats: Number of songs: 5 Total weeks on charts: 97 Appearing in a total number of: 14 charts
Total period running: 303 days. His album was the biggest gospel debut in 6 years!

Kelly Clarkson has, of course, had longer to amass her sales but here's where she's at on the Top 40 Charts: Number of songs: 7 Total weeks on charts: 493 Appearing in a total number of: 51 charts Total period running: 985 days

Granted, these stats and news items may not add up to Beatles-like stardom, but these kids aren't doing too badly for themselves either!

Don't worry. If you live in New York, he can deliver your pizza in about one to two years when his 15 minutes of fame are up.

But he wouldn't have gotten the money. The AI production team keeps an insane amount of the profits and control over the singer's musical choices. I'm sure Mario felt that was not worth it.

Is it weird that we haven't heard anything about Mario since he first left? Do you think it was part of his agreement? I wonder if he's sorry now, or if the offers are pouring in.
