| If posts are disappearing, then yes, there is a reason. This is the Mario Vasquez thread. Any discussion that isn't about him shouldn't be here, so it won't be. Posts that don't follow forum rules will also be removed. You can read the rules here, and if you do, everything should be pretty self-explanatory. | |

| Whatever his reason, I do hope this does not fall flat on his face. He obviously has talent and the "it" factor to make it, and for that to be overshadowed by "controversy" is such a disappointment. I hope he plays his cards very well and know the right kind of people in the industry. |

Nobody would know who any of these people are let alone them having billboard ranked records. It is entirely unfair to claim they did nothing for them. While their contracts may have been draconian, it was the price they paid for their shot at the big time. Heck I saw the other day even Josh Gracin is selling some cds. Rest assured none of those who got out of their AI contracts did so cheaply.

My issue is that by this season -- hell, by season THREE, at least! -- it should be clear that you are signing your life away if you agree to the demands of American Idol. The early contestants were caught unaware. The expectations (and regulations) that I have observed have been brutal at best. I truly believe that those WORTHY of a career would have found success without American Idol. Some, unfortunately, have lost their chances BECAUSE of selling their souls to their American Idol contracts. For instance, Kelly and Justin never wanted to make their abominable movie. Both knew it was a disaster in the making. Simon told them it would be a mistake. BUT, unfortunately, they had no say in their careers. At this point, I wholeheartedly support anyone who can beat the AI/19 machine. My congratulations to Mario!

| I love Mario & I wish him the best- I miss him!!! He will be just fine without American Idol... Simon even told him that... So What if he wants to bow out early, isn't it better knowing he can/will/did get a record deal early & give the other remaining contestants a "TRUE" shot at stardom... he's accomplished it, so let's not beat a dead horse. We should applaud him & move on! There are other contestants in this competition that deserve to win & one of them will. Mario will be just fine, the other contestants will get an even better shot since he was the early favorite & has now withdrawn... Now may the best person win & congratulations to Mario! I'm happy his talent was honored & recognized!! ![]() |

| Before everyone attacks Mario, oops, too late, you should read the article by MTV that announced that he was booted off the show due to the re-emergence of the Argentian CD which violates their contract! I'd say that he showed a lot of class by going along with the innocuous "personal reasons" as his excuse for getting kicked out. And I don't blame him one bit, after being run off the show at that point, to hire a lawyer to see about freeing himself from the contract he had only signed a week before, along with everyone else, so he could start working as a singer! Maybe noone ever taught some people this little maxim, but don't judge by appearances (ie. "never judge a book by its cover!") Before you stomp the poor guy, make sure you're going by facts and not rumors. Whether you liked him or not, Mario was a good singer, an excellent entertainer and performer and a genuinely nice guy. It definitely would have added more fun to the show to have him competing against the better performers. I wish him every sucess, including in getting free of newly sold, 19 Entertainment! ![]() I'll go looking for that article, again, now and see if I can copy it here. |

| I think I've read in an in interview with a producer that it doesn't matter if someone had a record deal before getting involved with the show. It just matters if the record is still in effect.
