| In spite of what is alleged on drudge report, my guess is that he was "ushered out" quietly on the condition that if he did so, AI wouldn't release what they knew. I'm not buying that he would give up that level of exposure for something he knew in advance anyway. |

| But he's already gotten a lot of exposure. I wouldn't be suprised if he quit because he didn't want to deal with all the restrictions of an AI contract. And I don't think there's anything horrible about that. If someone wants to use the show for publicity, good for them. It's not like the producers intentions are all that noble. They're doing this to make money. |

| Maybe he got offered something better? I would rather see money going into his pocket than Simon's. |

| Before jumping to any conclusions, please go to his website and scroll down to the second article. Even Mario's Mom doesn't know the reason he is withdrawing. She says how can it be a family reason. I am healthy. She appears very shocked! I am also very shocked because Mario was one of my favorites! I wanted to hear more from him. He has charisma, nice looks, good voice - the total package! I am so disapppointed! Since his Mom doesn't know the reason, could it be something to do with another relationship or the health of someone he cares about? He mentioned the location of the Finals would make it impossible to go back and forth. Hmmm...I am sure we will have an answer soon! http://www.mario-online.org/ |

| http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/41076.htm Pretty good article - even the family is confused. I think he may have gotten a bit big for his britches. |

Vazquez told TV Guide he quit "to take care of some personal issues with my family in New York. And with 'Idol' being a live show, it just wouldn't have worked out schedule-wise." "I'm healthy, I'm fine. It's just a personal family thing. My family is my top priority," he told the magazine. But Vazquez's mom, Ada, said she knew of no problem involving the family and had not idea why he left the show. This is what made me think it has to do with another person. For me, the Finals won't be the same. Certainly, Mario would have attracted a sizeable following for the tour. I just don't see Nikko attracting the same fan base as Mario. Well, controversey usually results in higher ratings - maybe. ![]() | |

| The local morning radio reported the same thing about the contract. All of the contestants have been under a general contract. The top ten have the sign a new and updated contracted that has more restrictions and goes into detail how much the IDOL people have control and how much money they will get. Apparently it is a five year contract and the producers get 35-50% of your earnings. They also have control over your look and image. All top 12 people were given a copy of the contract and it had to be signed before Tuesdays performance. The two that get voted out will not be held to the contract terms -- only the top ten. |

| Wow, everyone seems peeved if the contract thing is true. I think its pretty cool. Not everyone is willing to sell their souls. The AI contracts are notoriously strict. Not only is almost all your profit taken, but you have NO control over your image, what you wear, your own music, career choices, etc... If he read the contract and honestly did not feel comfortable allowing some executives control his every move and breath for the next 5 years, more power to him. Thats SMART to me, not horrible. |

| I'm really disappointed that he withdrew. I wish him the best of luck though.
