| Re: Carrie Underwood Carrie is and was awesome. The only thing I didn't like about her performance was the weird camera angles that AI was using the whole show. I wanted to see her, not the top of her head or the other stupid angles they used. I saw her on the awards show a few nights earlier and she was even hotter then. I came on the Carrie train late, but damn she's good.

| Re: Carrie Underwood Nice write up for her upcoming Cape Girardeau show. FLIPSIDE Online Underwood shows no signs of slowing down ______________________________ __________ Carrie Underwood – Country music. 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 8. Show Me Center on the campus of Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau. Jason Michael Carroll opens. Tickets are $55, $45 and $35. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call the Show Me Center box office at (573) 651-5000. Little things in life can seem so insignificant, but have enormous ramifications. An unknown Oklahoma college student was so busy balancing her schedule, she didn't want to make the long drive to St. Louis to compete in the preliminary stages of American Idol. The odds of advancing were astronomical and the thought of an all-night drive and sleeping in the car wasn't very appealing. Music fans throughout the world are thankful Carrie Underwood made a bold commitment to pursue her musical ambitions, despite major obstacles and overwhelming odds. She made the marathon dash to the heart of Cardinal country at the last minute and earned a trip to Hollywood, where she proceeded to blow away the field in capturing the season five title in 2005. Underwood has had an amazing effect on the country music industry. Her debut album, "Some Hearts," is the biggest selling album by a female vocalist in the history of country music, selling more than 7 million units. Follow-up "Carnival Ride" is racking up similar numbers. Every single she has released has shot to the top of the Billboard charts. Her hits have included: "Jesus Take The Wheel," "Before He Cheats," "Don't Forget To Remember Me" and "All America Girl." She is closing in on another inevitable No. 1 with current single, "Last Name," which she performed live on recent CMT and Academy of Country Music award shows. The gas pedal on her career has been stomped to the floor and she shows no signs of slowing down. "This part of my life has been absolutely crazy and to think it all started from one little decision I made to get on that ride," Underwood said. "That's why "Carnival Ride" works as my album title, because it describes the wonderful craziness I've been through over the past couple of years." Underwood's debut album, "Some Hearts," contained five No. 1 singles and was the biggest selling female country album in 2005, 2006 and 2007. It topped the Billboard album chart for 27 weeks during the three-year span, leading to numerous Grammy, ACM, CMT and Country Music Association awards. The flood of accolades solidified the genius of "American Idol" co-creator and ultra-critical judge Simon Cowell, who early in the 2005 event predicted Underwood would win and go on to become the biggest selling artist in "Idol" history. He was right on the money. Underwood said she picked particular topics she could relate to on her first album, while the follow-up effort contains a broader view of topics and covers a vast spectrum of emotions, from powerhouse ballads to amusing up-tempo dittys like current single "Last Name." The 25-year-old was born in Muskogee and raised in Checotah. She is currently criss-crossing the United States on tour, but found time to perform on the "American Idol" finals on May 21. Earlier this month, she picked up Female Vocalist of the Year honors from the ACM. Without a doubt, the highlight of a very productive month was May 10, when she became an official member of the Grand Ole Opry. She was welcomed into the elusive club by special guest announcer Garth Brooks, a fellow Okie. "Nothing will last as long or be more important than this award right here tonight," Brooks said. The petite Underwood accepted the honor, her voice cracking with emotion and tears rolling down her face. "This is going to have a very special place in my awards case," she said. "I want to thank everybody at the Opry for having me as part of your family, because it is such a great family to be a part of. It really means everything to me. I am so blessed." Underwood made her Opry debut on June 10, 2005, just two weeks after winning American Idol. On the recent ACM award show, she teamed with Brad Paisley for an inspirational duet on "Make The World Go Away" to honor the late Eddie Arnold, a longtime Opry member and the most successful act in the history of the Billboard charts. For a long time, country music was dominated by male vocalists. Underwood is shaking things up. Along with Taylor Swift and Kelly Pickler, she has her own brat pack. It's only a matter of time before she dethrones Kenny Chesney as the industry's Entertainer of the Year. By the way, it has been brought to my attention that Last Name is #13 & All American Girl is #19 on the Austrailian Country Charts. |
