| Re: Carrie Underwood I went to the San Jose, CA show with Keith & Carrie. Great performances by both (Keith Urban was way better than Carrie though). I really think her record company needs to release "just a dream" as her next single

| Re: Carrie Underwood Carrie had a show last night at Eastern Tennessee State University. Here is the review. Printer-Friendly Version Carrie Underwood Brings Her Hits To ETSU Sunday, Mar 30, 2008 - 12:30 AM By Brent Carney JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – To really appreciate Carrie Underwood’s vocal ability, one would need to see her in a venue smaller than East Tennessee State University’s roomy Memorial Center. But for the same reason the former American Idol winner isn’t likely to play smaller rooms anytime soon – namely, a repertoire of country radio singles – her Friday night concert in front of an estimated crowd of 8,000 at ETSU’s Mini Dome was a hit. Underwood pushed the former football stadium’s acoustics to the limit while ripping through all of the highlights from 2005’s "Some Hearts" album and last year’s "Carnival Ride" during a 13-song set. The price tag for Underwood – $400,000, plus another $130,000 for the one time use of the stage – stirred controversy among students in the weeks leading up to the concert but didn’t seem to take away from Friday’s hour and 15-minute set. Tickets to the concert were free for ETSU and Northeast State Technical Community College students and $10 for staff and faculty members. Each student was also permitted to bring up to three guests who could purchase tickets for $10 each. "We’ve never done an all-college date before, I’m a little scared," the 25-year-old quipped to the crowd, adding, "You guys know my jokes aren’t funny, you’re about my age." A full band backed Underwood as she strutted from corner to corner of the massive stage singing hits "Wasted," "Jesus Take The Wheel" and "All-American Girl." Twice Underwood picked up a guitar, hammering a few power chords during "Get Out Of This Town" and strumming along to an acoustic version of "Don’t Forget to Remember Me." Underwood seemed to enjoy playing in front of a crowd close to her in age. At one point the audience of mostly students knowingly laughed with her when she admitted that after spending a day at ETSU, she had learned the campus food court has "a sushi place where you don’t eat sushi." Later, during a reference to life after college, Underwood kidded about the importance of making enough money to pay off student loans. Pointing at an older couple in the crowd she joked, "they’re still paying them off, and they’re like 40." After closing with 2007’s hit "So Small," Underwood harkened back to her days on Idol for the encore, ditching country sounds for an unlikely cover of two Guns N’ Roses tunes. A melancholy version of "November Rain" wasn’t recognized by the young crowd but a fully charged rendition of "Paradise City" whipped the audience into a frenzy that carried over into her smash hit, "Before He Cheats," the final song of the night. Jonathan Singleton opened with a half-hour set of bluesy pop-country. Singleton wrote Gary Allen’s hit "Watching Airplanes," and energized the early arriving crowd with his version of the song before Underwood took the stage. |

| Re: Carrie Underwood Here is a review of Carrie in Green Bay last night. Seems as though she has dropped November Rain by Guns & Roses & added Beautiful Day by U2 to her set list. Green Bay Press-Gazette - Country's new female superstar? Carrie Underwood Country's new female superstar? Carrie Underwood Send us your photos of 'American Idol' star at Resch Center concert By Kendra Meinert kmeinert@greenbaypressgazette. com No offense Martina, Faith and even LeAnn, but you’re officially … well, kind of old. Watching Carrie Underwood have at a sold-out crowd of 7,631 Tuesday night at the Resch Center felt like a changing of the guard in country music. A genre that hasn’t churned out a solo female superstar in years – Gretchen fizzled; still waiting for Miranda to truly sizzle -- has found its new golden girl. She’s not the same performer who played a show in Oneida Casino’s outdoor tent two years ago. That Carrie showed up in shorts and gave polite little-girl waves to sign-toting “American Idol’’ fans. This Carrie strutted the stage in painted-on jeans and to-die-for crimson stiletto boots, strapped on an electric guitar and for the better part of 90 minutes proved what all the fuss is about to a young arena crowd three times the size of her Oklahoma hometown. What’s that song, “I Ain’t in Checotah Anymore’’? In case you didn’t get the message from the lyrics, the skirt of her ball gown suddenly came ripping off to reveal a sexy mini beneath to put the exclamation point on it. Yet there’s still a sweetness about Underwood – both in her gracious stage presence and her honey-drenched voice. Confident but careful not to be someone she isn’t. A little bit rock ’n’ roll but feet – and yes, killer legs -- firmly in country. To her credit, she handled the bulk of the entertainment duties on her first solo arena tour with little assistance. The stage production and video screens were surprisingly modest. Her eight-piece band stayed out of the way. With just two albums to work from, she managed to mostly keep the momentum rolling by stretching the material to fit, throwing in a lovely cover of Randy Travis’ “I Told You So’’ and then Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City’’ for an all-out encore that ended with her crossover smash, “Before He Cheats.’’ The tradeoff for those five outfit changes was obvious time-killing jams by the band. Her opening number, in which she rose up through the stage floor, was a bombastic rock misstep, but she quickly redeemed herself on “Wasted’’ – a song that let the farthest rows back know just how pure and powerful her voice can be. She made straight-ahead country fare like “Just a Dream’’ and “Remember Me’’ feel authentic, channeled her inner Shania Twain on big, bouncy arena anthems like “All-American Girl’’ and reminded everyone what “American Idol’’ judge Simon Cowell first saw in her with “Jesus Take the Wheel.’’ If Underwood is the face of new country, then opening act Josh Turner is the voice of old country. With a baritone-bass that could rattle the Resch Center glass and a band that covered all of its instrumental bases, including pedal steel and stand-up bass – he rode the “Long Black Train’’ through an enjoyable 40-minute set that included gospel, bluegrass and honky-tonk stops along the way. |
