Re: Carrie Underwood

As of this mornings Mediabase updates So Small enters the top 30 at #30 with 779 spins and 7.696 million AIs after just 3.5 days. So Small is posting huge numbers on the Taking Off and Jump! charts and is now being played on 157 stations. And considering the way the spins are increasing on a daily basis & coupled with the songs going recurrent it looks as though the song will debut on Billboards charts next week somewhere between 18 & 22.

Re: Carrie Underwood

So Small ends the first week of release by debuting at #22 on the Country Charts. This is the highest debut by a Female Artist since Gretchen Wilson came in at #18 with Here For the Party. And the highest debut since Keith Urban set the record earlier this year when he hit #17 with Once in a Lifetime Love.

So Small ended the week with 1334 spins and 12.708 million AIs. And the song is being played on 174 stations now out of a possible 223. The official adds date is today so there are stations out there that won't play a song until the official adds date rolls around. I look for the station count & therefore the spins count to continue to increase, as more stations move the song into a higher rotation. But, it will now become more difficult to move up the chart as the songs ahead have quite a head start & are all bunched together.

Re: Carrie Underwood

Well it turned out even better than I originally thought Carrie & So Small will debut at #20 on the Billboard Country Charts. Here is a nice little blurb that highlights the song & the accomplishments:

Monday, August 6, 2007 – Carrie Underwood's first single from her sophomore disc, "So Small," is racing up the charts and setting a record along the way. The song hit number 20 on the Billboard/R&R country airplay chart, marking the highest chart entry by a solo country female in Nielsen BDS history.
Penned by Underwood with Luke Laird and Hillary Lindsey (who co-wrote three tracks on Underwood's debut disc, including the chart-topping "Wasted" and "Jesus, Take the Wheel"), "So Small" was this week's most-added new single at Billboard/R&R and Country Aircheck. Serviced to country radio last Monday, with an official airplay impact date of today, "So Small" is already spinning on 128 country reporting stations.
The track also earns the distinction of becoming the highest debuting single of any country artist this year.
Underwood's to-be-titled new album, which will include "So Small," arrives Oct. 23.

Re: Carrie Underwood

Carrie's getting better and better. How wonderful for her.

Chris Daughtry was nominated, too, for outstanding song - or whatever the category is - for his song "Home."

Congrats to both!

Re: Carrie Underwood

This week Some Hearts finishes at #32 on the Billboard Top 200, but it remains #4 on the Country Charts. It took 90 weeks but the album, for the first time this week, dropped below 20,000 units sold. So many big name acts & albums have come & gone in this time frame & yet Carrie just keeps on ticking. She is now North of 5.83 million & going.

So Small had the highest debut of any song by a Female Country Artist in the soundscan era, coming in at #20 on the Billboard Charts. And the song isn’t even available yet on Itunes, at that point it will begin to climb the Hot 100 charts as well. Look out for the downloads on this one .

And just for good measure BHC is still #6 on the Adult Contemporary Charts. And the song is #21 on the Hot 100 chart. The one thing to consider about the Hot 100 is that in 3 weeks BHC will have been on that particular chart for a solid year.

Re: Carrie Underwood

Chuck Taylor is usually one tough individual to impress, but check out his review of So Small for Billboard Magazine.

So Small

So Small
CARRIE UNDERWOOD
Producer(s): Mark Bright
Label: Arista Nashville

The half-dozen country and pop hits on Carrie Underwood's six-times-platinum debut, "Some Hearts," practically make it a greatest-hits package unto itself. Her sophomore album isn't due until Oct. 23, but with the cross-format momentum of "Before He Cheats," why take a break? "So Small" is going to be so big at country: Her performance scrapes the stratosphere, abounding with appreciably spine-tingling notes, alongside a full-bodied ballad tempo and a lyric that she co-wrote. She quaintly reflects, "That mountain you've been climbing is a grain of sand, what you've been searching for is in your hands/ Love is all that matters, everything else seems so small." Strip away steel guitar and adult top 40 has its millennium-era Shania Twain. Underwood is unstoppable, and "So Small" delivers on all previous collateral that she is here to stay. —Chuck Taylor

Thank you for such great and detailed updates! One question: has she outsold Kelly Clarkson yet?

Some Hearts passed Breakaway 2 weeks ago & went ahead by 200 total copies. The difference increased last week & will again for the foreseeable future. Kelly's album got a bump in sales when her new album was released & Carrie will experience the same type of thing for a few weeks after the release of her new one.

PS: You're Welcome.....
