Yeah, I heard it also & I agree that if they decide to release it as a single it will be a hit. Carries vocals on the part I heard are just soaring.

Brad & Carrie seem to have developed a true friendship & mutual appreciation of each other. When Carrie was announced as the Female Vocalist of the Year at the ACM's Brad was the first on his feet & lead the standing ovation. And Carrie did the same for him.

I think it speaks volumes to realise that last year when they toured together was the first time anyone other than Allison Krause had done the female portion of Whiskey Lullabye. Not Jennifer Nettles, not Sara Evans, only Carrie. And this year he is back to doing it the way it had always been done, with Allisons voice being looped in to the live performance.

Re: Carrie Underwood

Arista has finally made if official. Some Hearts is 6X Platinum. It's quite a nice write up. And they also confirm she will be performing on Finale Night.

Arista Nashville

All the Country Loves Carrie, as Underwood’s Some Hearts Is Certified for Sales of Six Million Copies!
ACM-Winning Album of the Year Becomes the First Female Country Debut to Hit the Six-Million Milestone Since 1999

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 18, 2007

Nashville, TN – She’s a two-time GRAMMY winner, reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, and newly crowned ACM Top Female Vocalist, and the incredible success story of Carrie Underwood reaches still greater heights as her 19 Recordings/Arista Records/Arista Nashville debut album, Some Hearts, is now RIAA-certified Sextuple Platinum for sales of six million copies. One of only two female country debuts ever to reach this milestone, Some Hearts now ranks alongside Leann Rimes’ Blue as the best-selling debut by a country female in RIAA history.

Released November 15, 2005, the disc’s unstoppable sales momentum has powered it to #1 for a remarkable 26 of its 78 chart weeks – holding the #1 position on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart across multiple weeks in 2005, 2006, and 2007.

With a 29% sales jump to more than 56,700 copies sold this past week, Some Hearts reclaims the #1 position on Billboard’s Top Country Albums and surges to #8 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart. This sales leap preceded Carrie’s performance and triple win on Tuesday’s 42nd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, where she was awarded Video of the Year (“Before He Cheats”) and two of the night’s top prizes: Top Female Vocalist and Album of the Year, for Some Hearts.

“Wasted,” the fourth #1 country airplay single from Some Hearts (following the success of “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” “Don’t Forget to Remember Me,” and “Before He Cheats”), also becomes a #1 video this week on GAC’s viewer-voted Top 20 Country Countdown.

Underwood’s massive cross-format appeal has also delivered Top 10 success at Hot AC and Mainstream Top 40 with “Before He Cheats,” becoming a Top 5 favorite video on VH1’s VSpot Top 20 Video Countdown as well as the first country video ever to air on MTV’s TRL and the first country video added to MTV since 1999.

With this week’s SoundScan sales numbers, “Before He Cheats” also breaks new ground on the digital frontier, as release-to-date total sales vault to 1,228,511 downloads, ranking “Before He Cheats” as the best-selling digital country song in chart history.

Some Hearts remains the best-selling, single-disc country album by a solo artist (male or female) in the last six years (since Tim McGraw’s Greatest Hits released in November of 2000) and the best-selling, single-disc country album by any artist since the release of the Dixie Chicks’ Home in August 2002.

Fans can be watching for American Idol’s Season Four champion as she returns to the Idol stage for a performance on the show’s May 23 season finale.

Re: Carrie Underwood

first of all THANK YOU Razorbacker for all the updates here in carries thread and any bits of AI info you posted. really appreciate it.

she'll be back for the finale. woo hoo! i wonder what she's going to sing or are they going to group up and do some duets or medley. she already performed her latest single weeks back and had her "ill stand by you" during idols give back wk. so either it'll be a live version of ISBY or new single or a group thing.

i dont know but i have a feeling that she was invited to the finale after her winning at the ACM awards. her big shout out to AI/Simon may have extended an invitation to her, again! cause i haven't heard that she was going to participate in the finale until now.

6X platinum. incredible! sophomore album may sell half of that which will still be incredible but i bet people will call it a failure since it didnt do as well as the first. she set the bar so high it'll be hard to repeat. but i dont care, if music is as good as the 1st...will purchase several.

razor, do you think brad asked carrie to sing krauss' part of whiskey lullaby cause their singing voice (tone) is similar. nettles and evans are imo huskier/deeper sounding.

Re: Carrie Underwood

Hey Bell, I have known for well over a week now that Carrie would be a part of the finale. She had said as much during a few interviews she did leading up to the ACM Awards show. I just waited until I saw something in writing before I posted the info. So her shout out really had nothing to do with her being asked. However, she has done many awards show during the past year & ½ & every time she has mentioned either Idol, 19 management, or Simon Fuller. So there is definitely a mutual admiration society going on & she has never forgotten where she got her start. Simon was even her escort to the Grammy's. My belief is that Arista waited to make this announcement so they could include the parts about Female Vocalist & Album of the Year.

As to the Brad duet, I would agree that her voice is more like Allison & more apt to turn out a great performance. And after seeing the crowd respond to them singing together live I have to say he made a great decision. He would start the song & Carrie would enter through a curtain & when people realized what was going to happen it brought the house down. Jennifer Nettles is great but I think she would have a tendency to overwhelm the song. Sara Evans, well, all I can say is that if you have ever seen her live, she can sometimes has issues with extreme pitchiness. Nuff said. And Brad has stated many times that Carrie should be headlining her own tour. He says she is that good & is going to do great things when she hits it on her own.

Re: Carrie Underwood

I thought I would share some info for those that have never been to CMA Music Fest in Nashville . Every day of the festival the Nashville Arena is opened up to the public & the artists show up to meet & greet fans, sign autographs, & take photos. It is really a great opportunity to meet these folks up close & personal & most of them attend at some time during the week.

Well last year on the day that Carrie was to sign, it was an absolute madhouse. They had a rope aisle set up for her to walk from the back door of the Arena to the signing booth about 100 feet away. Two hours before her scheduled appearance people started to line up at this rope & by the time she walked out of the door & into the auditorium the people were lined up 10 deep on both sides of the aisle & it extended 50 feet past the booth. I had honestly never seen anything quite like it. The moment the door opened & she walked through it was almost like The Beatles had hit the floor. There were thousands of flash bulbs, TV cameras with all their lights & security guards everywhere. The look on her face was disbelief & I would say even a bit of fear.

Anyway it looks like she is up to doing it all again.

NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- 2007 CMA Music
Festival is the ultimate experience for fans of America's music, with more
than 90 hours of live music, celebrity events and more, during four days
(Thursday-Sunday, June 7-10) in Downtown Nashville. The event celebrates
the relationship between fans and celebrities, and is perhaps best realized
at its core: the Fan Fair(R) Exhibit Hall. Held at the Nashville Convention
Center, the Fan Fair Exhibit Hall gives four-day attendees the rare
opportunity to meet some of their favorite entertainment personalities,
discover new talents and receive a cherished autograph and photo.
"What sets CMA Music Festival apart from other music festivals around
the world is the amount of artist/fan interaction that takes place during
the event," said Tammy Genovese, CMA Chief Operating Officer. "The
connection that the fans make with their favorite artists in the Fan Fair
Exhibit Hall is truly the heart of CMA Music Festival."

The Sony BMG Nashville booth, subtitled "hearsomethingcountry.com, "
will feature appearances from Keith Anderson; Terri Clark; Montgomery
Gentry; Jake Owen; Carrie Underwood; Chris Young; and more.

Re: Carrie Underwood

I just read somewhere on the web that Carrie's album has matched LeeAnn Rimes' first effort "Blue" in sales by going sextuple platinum. Razor, can you translate what this means? (as far as country or any record cd/album achievements go)

If her next cd has some of the songs you all have been mentioning here lately, it'll be bigger than her first. Amazing and it couldn't have happened to a nicer young lady!

Carrie & LeeAnn are the only two female Country Artists to have their first albums sell 6 million copies. Of course the king & queen of sales are Garth & Shania. Shania's Come On Over has sold over 35 million worldwide,( Carrie is just beginning to get some exposure in foreign markets). That's why Shania can live in a castle in Switzerland & put out new albums every 4 or 5 years.

Everything I have read from behind the scenes reports is saying Carries new album is going to be great. She herself has said that they have too many songs in the can & they are going through them to make the final decisions on which stay & which go. It has become the most anticipated album of 2007 out of Nashville. And no, that's not me saying it, that is coming from Nashville press, & country music insiders. She definitely has a huge obstacle to get over & even if the album sells only 1/2 as much some folks will still call it a flop. But, almost everyone would love to have a 3 million unit flop, wouldn't they? My prediction is 600,000 - 700,000 first week sales. Street date is being reported as Nov. 13.

Re: Carrie Underwood

yup, everyone would love a 3 million flop...even 2 million flop, 1 million is a complete disaster. sad isnt it.

im hoping her duet song with brad paisley will be on her cd also and ill stand by you (dont like itunes)

nov 13. in time for xmas sales. if she releases the perfect 1st single and if what you said is true razor, about being the most anticipated country album, she just might be close to a mil.

Nov. 13 is just two days short of the two year anniversary of Some Hearts & just in time for the Holiday shopping season, so you could be right about first week sales.

I am hearing some incredible industry buzz about the duet. It seems as though radio is chomping at the bit to get the song on air, but for now Brads single "Ticks" is still climbing the charts. I have a feeling that once it does hit the airwaves, the sky is the limit.

Re: Carrie Underwood

Wouldn’t it be nice of more of these former contestants had an opinion like this? So many times we hear of them trying to distance themselves from the show the minute they are gone. Yet, if not for AI they would have never had an opportunity to put themselves before 30 million a night. Oh well…

CARRIE UNDERWOOD TO APPEAR ON TONIGHT'S 'AMERICAN IDOL' FINALE

By: Margy Holland

Carrie Underwood will appear on tonight's (Wednesday, May 23rd) season finale of American Idol. It was two years ago that winning the show changed the course of Underwood's life, so she told us she's honored to be a part of this year's winner's big moment. "It's so wonderful that they let me come back and be a part of what started my career and also be a part of someone else's career, you know, cause it's just great to go and think, 'Wow, this was me two years ago!'It'll be pretty close to the two-year anniversary of the finale when I was on, so it's just amazing to go and be a part of that and be a part of someone's wonderful, wonderful night, and it's great that they let me."

Despite her busy schedule, Underwood said she makes every effort to keep up with American Idol each week. "As much as I can, even if I am flying or something, going somewhere or doing something I'll have my mom text me and she'll tell me who did what and who got voted off and such, so I keep up as much as I possibly can."

Underwood is not placing any bets on whether Blake Lewis or Jordin Sparks will win, adding that it's anyone's guess who will take the title of this year's "American Idol."

American Idol airs tonight on FOX at 8 p.m. ET.
