I'm not offended by this at all Broadway. Carrie does have the habit with the microphone & I have also noticed it. But, the vocals are always so astounding it's almost unnoticeable. Almost... Anyway, you really should take an opportunity to go see her if she comes near you. It's a completely different experience when she takes the mic out of the satnd & just belts it out.

PS: the proud parent thing obviously applies to me as well, I am in awe of what she has accomplished this year. Best New Artist in every award show she has been nominated for. I believe someone other than me thinks the girl has a future.

I couldn't agree more. Loved her speech. Very gracious. She is such a beautiful amazing woman. Glad she had a wonderful year. And her version of Desperado was absolutely AMAZING

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the hand/mic thing. Anyway, it's better than that little bobbing thing she used to do on Idol...they broke her of that bad habit, at least from what I've seen. Anyway, it was so good to see her win last night. Loved her performances with Asleep at the Wheel and the Flatts!!

Carrie switching hands every second on the mic was very distracting. My hubby started counting and I just covered my eyes and listened. I hope she breaks that habit soon. Loved her acceptance speech when she said "I love country music!"

okay - I'll add myself to the grabbing the mic thing.

That annoyance aside, she was AWESOME! I loved her singing with Rascal Flatts (and the proud parent moment for me was when I thought about how she sang with them on AI and was in awe and now it's more like 2 artists singing together, not an unknown singing with a group *proud*)

And good Lord, that girl is stunningly beautiful!!

Do you all think that one reason she is so pretty is that she looks so natural? I love that she isn't overly made up but Lord, why WOULD she be?

Muduh...I do think its because she's so naturally pretty....and she's got the whitest teeth!

.....Her teeth were that white and pretty even when she 1st started on AI...

And I agree with you marybethp...and I even said something to my son last night while we were watching her perform with Rascal Flatts...they were like us...they saw her when she was beginning to spread her wings and fly and now they see her as a equal.....

I don't care how much someone dislikes AI...you've got to be amazed at remembering how they were when we first saw them and how they are now.....even for those that I haven't particularly cared for, its interesting to see what they've accomplished and how "fame" affects them!

This person from Entertainment Weekly has always been very hateful towards Carrie, I have never seen anything he has written that was even the least bit positive. But, I think last night may have changed his mind. There is a nice photo of her singing if you click the link.

But her beguilingly retro ''San Antonio Rose'' and heartfelt ''Desperado'' — respective tributes to Texan songwriters Bob Willis and Don Henley — were enough to convince even this long-standing holdout that Underwood is worthy of her breakaway successes. Not that she needs any props from a wayward critic: After all, she is Grammy's Best New Artist of 2007.
