Re: Unemployment benefits

It sounds like Bo is extremely generous, so I would bet that he'll donate far more than he's ever collected in his lifetime when he starts reaping the benefits of fame. Just a comment.

Re: Hard body

You're right, he's packing a couple of extra lbs, but that's ok...most of America can relate to him.

hmmm . . . he looked slender in my .mwv clip -- must be the resolution -- I'll have to re-watch the taped show.

Does anyone know what is meant by "I'll be your love suicide"?

I love Bo, and I looked forward to hearing him do better work in the coming weeks.

Bo says he's a fan of James Taylor. My vote for songs to sing: "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight," "I Was a Fool to Care," "Fire and Rain" and "Steamroller" (now that would take real courage to sing on AI ):

Well, I'm a steamroller, baby, I'm bound to roll all over you.
Yes, I'm a steamroller now, baby, I'm bound to roll all over you.
I'm gonna inject your soul with some sweet rock 'n roll and shoot you full of rhythm and blues.
)
If I'm not mistaken, James Taylor won't approve the use of his songs on AI.

You can hear a great interview with Bo by an Alabama radio station here:
www.steveanddc.com/media/mediafiles/5528.ram

He really comes across as a down-to-earth, genuinely nice guy who likes all the other AI contestants and respects their talent and pretty much tried out for AI with no real expectations, is surprised he's gotten this far, and is "cool with" whatever happens here on out - from going home this week to winning the whole thing.

After hearing this interview, I'm much more OK with the idea of him actually winning the title, if that should happen.

Despite what people say about Bo having a hard time on Barry Manilow night, i think otherwise. In fact, he can put his own rock twist to it and give these songs the edge (he would need a good band with killer guitarists). He would in fact do very well and also especially if they have a Carpenters night. He could sing the following:

Barry Manilow songs:
Could it Be Magic
Tryin to Get the Feeling
This One's For You
Ready to Take a Chance Again
Sandra

Carpenters songs:
It's Going to Take Some Time
Goodbye to Love
We've Only Just Begun
Hurting Each Other
A Song for You

Listen to this, check out song #6:

Now i'm not sure if he will survive ABBA night!

Soul Night is no problem -- he'll cruise through a blues number, or some James Brown or Ike & Tina. Big Band Night is a breeze too -- Setzer, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, yawn. ...
I don't see Bo having any problem with themes like "country," "disco," "Motown," etc. All sorts of songs to choose from.

Theme nights based on genre are fine (except maybe Salsa Night.) It's the idiotic one-artist theme nights that will cause him and others grief. The notion that you can't be an AI if you can't sing the Bee Gees or Barry Manilow is Just Plain Stupid. ...
As long as a songwriter is prolific enough, I think "one-artist theme nights" are fine. Paul Anka wrote Frank Sinatra's big hit "My Way." Hoyt Axton wrote the Pointer Sisters' hit "Slow Hand" and Three Dog Night's hit "Joy To The World." Billy Joel wrote Garth Brooks's hit "Shameless." The BeeGees wrote the Kenny/Dolly hit "Islands In The Stream." Dolly Parton wrote Whitney Houston's hit "I Will Always Love You." Etc., etc. And "Gloria Estefan night" allowed for both songs she wrote -- which are not all salsa-esque numbers -- and songs she recorded but didn't write (e.g., Turn The Beat Around). The "themes" are usually not as limiting as some people may expect.

I would like to see clips of Granny Madge talking about her grandson and showing how she makes Bo's cool threads.

I'm not surprised. Somehow I don't see Taylor giving approval for it, given the potential for a vocal disaster on AI (not by Bo, of course).

FWIW, "Shameless" and "I Will Always Love You" were hits for the songwriters (Billy Joel, Dolly Parton) before they were hits for the others...
