Big Blue - Tayshaun!
Top 10 Finalists with both American Idols included
who do you think would have won with contestants from both american idols? i am of the firm belief that kelly would still have won, i absolutely adore her vocal style.
1. kelly clarkson
2. ruben studdard
3. clay aiken
4. tamyra gray
6. kimberly locke
7. justin guarini
8. kim caldwell
9. julia demato
10. ryan starr
Kelly wouldn't of won, EVERYONE this year was better than her.
("wouldn't OF won"? yikes! )
Though Kelly has a good voice and nice style-- and deserved to win last year-- I don't think she could have beaten out Ruben or Clay.
I prefer Kimberley Locke's vocal style (a rich, very unique sound-- well, unique to singers of my generation) to Kelly's...However, I think Kelly was a bit more polished performance-wise and really through her whole self into a song...I think it would be a toss-up between her and Kimberley Locke. Tamyra would have been a contender in that group, too-- but it is my belief that both Ruben and Clay would have beaten all of them...but that's just me.
Ruben 'n Clay.
Nerds Just Wanna Have Fun
I enjoy Clay, Ruben, and KimL more than I do Kelly. I still think Kelly has good talent. I just wouldn't say she's the best.
I believe that the people would have voted for Ruben and Clay over Kelly. Ruben and Clay fans took being "fanatical" to another level during the second season.
But...I think that 19E and Simon Cowell would have pushed for Kelly over Ruben and Clay. Kelly was marketing gold- the girl next door with a voice that could be compared to Celine/Mariah/Whitney...she fit the mold of a typical pop star more than Ruben and Clay.
Talent-wise, I don't think you can compare the three. It's like comparing Luther Vandross, Barry Manilow, and Aretha Franklin. The three of them are just sooo different...and I love all of them...I'd be even more torn.

Kelly behind Ryan Starr.

Don't know about that. Kelly wasn't really pushed by Simon at all until Tamyra was voted off. Now Ruben, OTOH, was clearly The Favored One from Day 1. Of course that may have been because he was Kelly's antithesis (on a superficial level)--black male vs. white female. I think they wanted to show people that "anyone can be an American Idol" or something. So how a combination of both seasons would have played out is hard to say; there are quite a few scenarios that may have played out. I think we can all agree that Justin G. would not have gotten anywhere *close* to second place, though...
