American Idol auditions the place people who sing hooks come to find out they can't really sing.

Here's a little Romeo & Juliet rewrite I used on my blog tonight in honor of Simon Cowell and Neil Patrick Harris:

Two judges. Both alike in dignity.
In fair Dallas where we lay our scene.
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where Idol words makes Idol songs unclean.

I totally agree! I was just coming in here to post that very idea. He has the gravitas that empty chair would require.

As for the auditions, not really impressed with anyone I heard, not even less than 1 billion percent.

More quotes from the Dallas show:

"I just want to shatter the dreams of thousands." - NPH

"My first problem was the bottom line of your sign. The letters just get real small at the end. It seems like you just wanted to start over." - NPH

"Thank god for Neil Patrick Harris! I’m gonna have to go back and watch Doogie Howser again." -Kimberly Carver

"I’m just being honest. This show is over." - Dexter Ward

I said the same thing to my husband! I thought NPH was a hoot and very sharp. He was a pleasant surprise to me.

    And TopCat, I loved this:

    1. I thoroughly agree with all those who think NPH would be a worthy successor to the crown. If we're saying it here, others must be saying it on other boards as well. FOX - do it!!!!!

    2. The young man they showed for 1.5 seconds (green t-shirt, jeans), saying "You mean I'm not going to Hollywood?" is the son of some friends. Wes is an absolute sweetheart without a mean bone in his body, so I'm sure it was said in jest. And I'm also sure he wasn't one of those "so bad we have to show him" singers. He's right at about the halfway point of the show.
Warning . . . I have a black belt in Facebook, and I'm not afraid to use it!

    AI 9 Rules

You are 16 to 28 years old on June 12, 2009 (which means you must be born on or between June 13,1980 and June 12, 1993). If you were born before or after this window, you are not eligible to participate this season.
Maybe he is 29 now but 28 when he auditioned?

I couldn't agree more Unk. I didn't think she had a good voice AT ALL. She was way too high and got praise from all of them :nono

    Re: 1/27 Show Discussion **spoilers**

When Adam L. was on Oprah he mentioned that Simon really is only looking for people who suit his taste. He mentioned that Simon doesn't get country so there isn't much someone can do who is a country singer to get by him. I also see that there is a certain look for a female that he is attracted to. If his first impression of a girl suits him, he just beams at her. He was pretty narrow minded with the jazz singer last night. The girl was a tad larger than he would like, so he dismissed her like she was worthless. I am so glad all three of the others showed his critique to be worthless
