wow that article really made me like her more. She's been through alot. Its good to see someone make it who hasnt always had such a great life.

The people who have had to struggle usually are better "performers".
You can always tell when Tasia is remembering something or thinking of her daughter or her family and feeling the words of the music. There are not too many famous singers who can do this. Freddy Mercury, Janis Joplin and Carly Simon are a couple of old-timers that come to mind. Martina McBride, Norah Jones and John Mayer are some newbies. I'm sure there are more, but you get the picture.

Diana can control her voice very well, however, what they couldn't train her to do is sing with emotion. She has yet to sing a song that has convinced me she even knows what the song is about. She sang "Don't Cry Out Loud" well, but she missed the subtle nuances in the song and it was the despair that made this song famous.

I enjoyed Diana singing "Dont cry out loud" because it was one of my favorites growing up because my mom played it around the house alot. While I enjoyed it, I still couldn't help but think how much better Kelly Clarkson wouldve done with this song. Diana is a great singer but she does lack emotion. That song is a sad song when you listen to the words and she didnt show that emotion on her face at all and thats part of a performance.

It's ironic, DVM. Usually, if your fave makes it to the end, you'd vote like crazy. But since both my two faves made it, I may not need to vote at all. I'm going to be happy with either of them winning. But that doesn't mean I'm lazy. I've done a careful analysis to determine that I have to do absolutely nothing tonight.

I've split each person's songs into five tiers.
    Tier 1 - Jaw dropping, Goose-bumps
    Tier 2 - Outstanding, Amazing
    Tier 3 - Excellent, Stand-outs
Tier 4 - Good, Well done
Tier 5 - Average and below

    Fantasia:
    Tier 1 - Jaw dropping, Goose-bumps
    Summertime
    A Thing Called Love
What are you doing for the rest of your life?

    Tier 2 - Outstanding, Amazing
    Chain of Fools
    Fool in Love
    Greatest Love of All

    Tier 3 - Excellent, Stand-outs
    Something To Talk About
    Signed Sealed Delivered
    Always On My Mind
I Heard It Through The Grapevine
Something About The Way You Look Tonight

Tier 4 - Good, Well done
    Holding Out for a Hero
    Knock on Wood

Tier 5 - Average and below
    It's a Miracle
    Get On Your Feet

    Diana

    Tier 1 - Jaw dropping, Goose-bumps
I've Got The Music In Me
    Don't Cry Out Load
    This is it

    Tier 2 - Outstanding, Amazing
    No More Tears
    Think
    A Broken Wing
    Do You Love Me
    Turn the Beat Around

    Tier 3 - Excellent, Stand-outs
    Someone to Watch Over Me
    Because You Love Me

Tier 4 - Good, Well done
    I'm Still Standing
    Get Happy
    Aint No Mountain High Enough

Tier 5 - Average and below
    My Heart Will Go On
    One Voice

So, my final tallies for Fantasia & Diana:
    Tier 1: 3-3
    Tier 2: 3-5
    Tier 3: 5-2
    Tier 4: 2-3
    Tier 5: 2-2

So, that's a pretty much a dead heat for me. The only thing that may sway me is that Diana probably needs a win more to be immediately successful, given her age.

    Wow, BobDob-way cool!

I don't care who wins tonight-I just hope both give their all and give me more goosebumps. That's what it's about for me. The goosebumps. and hopefully the good kind, ...not the screamy-meamy kind. I think they'll both do well. I prefer Fantasia, but I won't die if she doesn't get it.
