Nigel Lythgoe confirmed earlier today via Twitter that he has been fired. Not sure if we've gotten confirmation about Warwick yet.

That may be true that many tuned in to hear what Simon would say, but they sure didn't follow him to his new venture. That being said, I quite like the idea of a Simon, L.A Reid or Jimmy Iovine in one of the judging chairs. Anyone in the music scene or currently trying to sell music will never be able to be "mean" or be really honest because their sales could be directly affected if they said the wrong thing or pissed off the wrong fanbase. Behind the scenes guys like Simon or Jimmy are needed to counter-act all the nicey-nicey and PC stuff. JMO

Who is now in charge of making all these decisions... firing producers and revamping, etc.... Simon Fuller ?

Thanks for that info but exactly who are " the executives that are now in charge of 'American Idol " ?

Again ... who is making these decisions?

Also note that Keith Urban is again not mentioned as a departing judge.

    Hmmm.

I just read some other articles mentioning David Hill as the new "show runner" which also stated that talks with Jennifer Hudson were "stalled".

The ownership of the Idol franchise now resides with a company, an investment firm, called Apollo Global Management. That company is owned by a guy named Robert Sillerman & his business partner Simon Fuller, they also have ownership in So You Think You Can Dance & the merchandising rights to Mohammed Ali & Elvis Presley. On the Elvis front, they also operate Graceland & since I was just there last week I can tell you there is no merchandising opportunity gone to waste.

Ohhh, lucky. I have never been, but desperately want to. Elvis was gone before I was born, but I grew up listening to him. He's my all time favorite artist. I'm glad AI goes sparingly on Elvis themes; I cannot take the hack jobs of his music.

I would assume they were involved with the merchandise development for the American Idol Experience attraction in Walt Disney World. After however many years, all that stuff was gone in May, much of it dumped in the area outlets.

Much like the show experiencing ratings trouble, that show is in trouble as well and rumored to be on the way out. Can't get enough people to audition, and even during some packed park days, show plays to a not even half full theater. And the judges aren't cheap either due to their pay scale classification (speaking actors, essentially).
