As for whether or not Jessica's father is active military, retired, reservist or draft dodger, it makes absolutely no difference to me. I don't care for her because I don't care for her. It has absolutely nothing to do with any attempted manipulation of my opinion based on something that has nothing to do with her.

Personally I find these humane mouse traps rather ineffective. Better to lay down some glue and when you hear the critter scream you take a shovel to his head.

She's only 16. That is the reason for no real life experience. She needs to get her heart broken at least once to really convey the emotions that the ballads that she chooses to sing require.

I feel she'd have more of a chance of having had life-experiences if she were a bit more well rounded. If all you do is one thing, sure you can get really good at that one thing. There's a lot to be said for being involved in all sorts of different activities.

Although I think age can make a difference, it's more than age. Some people are just born 'old souls' and have a deeper understanding and feeling about life. It's the same reason that some children can be fabulous actors, and some people can 'act' but never reach a depth or sincerity to their acting that other people have. The same is true of singing.

I'm not saying it can't be learned, it can, but some people are born with the gift of an amazing voice and others are born with the gift of conveying feeling and sincerity. Those who are born with both are prodigies.

Another thing that might have hindered Jessica is the home schooling thing. She seems to have been really sheltered & didn't have the opportunities most other 16 year old kids have had. I still like the girl & hope she wins. Nothing against P2, but the show needs a girl winner again.

I think the show needs a girl to win too, but that shouldn't be at the expense of a better performer just because its a WGWG. Either way, it's going to be a really good finale! Phillip and Jessica are two totally different types of performers, which makes for a more unique experience. I wish them both the best!

Phillip is too young to be considered a loung lizard IMNSHO.

That being said, I'm so glad this was brought up because I hardly ever get a chance to use this most beloved smilie. loungelizard-big.gif

I have no interest at all in the finale (Tuesday night), for the 2nd year in a row. But at least I don't have to worry about wasting a lot of time voting.

Me neither. The only kids out of the top 13 I actually voted for were DeAndre (briefly), Skylar, and Joshua. I might still tune in next Tuesday and Wednesday, having invested so much time already, but I won't vote for either Phillip or Jessica.

I'll most likely watch Tues. because it is tradition, but I could care less which one of these two wins. Maybe I will record it, but I won't be voting.

I will watch Wed. for sure so I can see the former Idolettes (Joshua, Skylar, & Colton) back on the stage .
