I have a serious question here about Mary J Blige. She can sing well, but so can so many others. What is her claim to her fame? I know little about her and her voice did not seem exceptional to me.

I really appreciate Jimmy Iovine. Again we are getting luke warm judging. Randy is stepping up a bit.

She is older than she looks. She has been successful for decades. I do not sing but believe the age is showing in the voice....
    You can do it!

They always say this is the best season ever to hype the show. I think last season with the crazy rocker might have had the best group.

I cannot see the low voiced male and female being that marketable as far as CDs go. But I do love a giant. How can you not?

My tops are Jerr Bear, the skunk head boy, and the blonde short young girl. I'll learn the names.

When Erika joined Elise on the bottom seats, you could hear one of them commenting that the old ladies were in the bottom.

No. Jermaine has the low voice. Jeremy is "Jerr Bear."

Gotcha...to many J's. So now Jerr Bear is a Polar Bear, left out in the cold.

Gosh - Mary J. Blige has been around since at least the early 90s. She is not the best singer but she puts so much heart and soul into her singing - you really feel it. Quite frankly, I'd love to hang out with her. I think she seems like a real cool lady with heart and personality that just comes out.

Also - this was not her first time on the AI stage. She performed in the finale of S5 singing "One" with Eliot Yamin. Normally as a rule, I don't think anyone should cover anything by U2 but her version of One is one of my favorites. She blows it out on that song.

Thanks, all. I know she has been around for a long time. I just wondered if she was lauded for fabulous range or some vocal prowess that was escaping me. She has never appealed to me so I paid little attention.
