I don't remember her performances on AGT too well. But it doesn't matter too much because we see her now. The first AGT wasn't that good anyway.
I have to go look at the youtube videos because I don't remember her on the show but to comment on what you said, I believe the first season of AGT was the best followed closely by the second season and has gotten much worse every season since.
I think the opposite, actually. The first season was the worst. Format sucked, people sucked, Regis sucked, everything about it sucked. The format they have been using the past two seasons were the best. What's bad about the later seasons though is when bad acts like Kevin Skinner and the Silhouettes go all the way.
"Turn the Beat Around" is one of the songs that should be banned in AI. That's one of the worst songs to be sung not only because there's no range in that song but because the melody sucks! It's always mediocre when someone performs it. Jessica tried to scream that song by going up an octave in an effort make something out of a bad song. She needs to expand her song catalogue and pick songs that would take advantage of her range. Luckily she realized how bad she was before and redeemed herself the following week.
Jessica has been added to the performers list for the PBS National Memorial Day Concert on the mall in Washington DC. She will sing the national anthem & Celiene Dion's The Prayer.
BTW ... I was interested to learn that her Father and Grandfather are Navy Veterans ... but I am more interested in seeing Dennis Franz as I knew him personally. :lol
