I think that if Scotty, Lauren or any of the other kids that did so well, later, end up not having much success with their music, no one will feel worse about it than they will. Time will tell. They will just have to let the insults roll off their back. That's one reaon it's so tough on young kids. It's a very competetive business. You're only as good as your last CD or movie. It's not a kind field.

This reminds me of a country song by Toby Keith called "How Do You Like Me Now?" It's a great song about a guy who people laughed at in high school and then he made it big in music and was all over the radio. In real life music producers laughed at Toby and turned him down quite a bit. I guess he showed them. LOL

While I totally agree with you, I also think that had Josh felt that Scotty was really unworthy, he wouldn't have bothered.

Yes, I think he wants to support him. It's important for the older artists to mentor the younger ones. Reba McIntire and Dolly Parton have done a lot of that with the younger female artists. When Jessica Simpson messed up a tribute song to Dolly at the Kennedy Lifetime Achievement Awards, Dolly talked to her and supported her and even volunteered to make a CD with her!!! She really tried to help the girl.

Robert Plant (lead singer for Zeppelin) is always bragging on new artists, while downplaying his iconic music. He often does shows or tours with these new bands or singers to help them get experience and lend them some of his name recognition. He frequently attends music festivals, in search of new talent. I just love the guy. He's such a true artists.

I watched an interview this morning with John Rich and he said many in the country field are excited to have both of these kids come into their fold. Which I thought was kind of funny after reading the article above about how they are not. Guess time and good cds will tell.

Not sure where that interview went, but it is always nice to read different people's opinions about their chances for success.

If it's the same interview I read it wasn't artist making their harsh opinions known (though I'm sure there are some of those out there as well), it was the folks involved with country radio...program managers, etc..

Well, we will see. So far, on the show, Scotty has been somewhat amusing and Lauren has been one huge bore. It's amazing what a good producer can do with a mediocre singer.

Its all a matter of taste and opinion. I haven't found either of them to be a bore or "somewhat amusing." There were some on there I did find a "bore" but apparently a lot of other people did too because they're gone.
