    exactly.

and just because harry connick jr. and michael buble can be successes doesn't mean it should be an IDOL week.

however, if siobhan survives, it should be a real TRAIN WRECK lol

sorry, in the IDOL world where we always here about "current," sinatra just doesn't cut it.
There's "timeless" and there's "old". They aren't the same thing.

Some of the Shania Twain songs we heard yesterday were simply "fifteen years old". Not bad songs, but hardly current.

Some of Sinatra's songs are 70 years old. But timeless in the sense that they are of an absolute quality level that they aren't bound to their original time period. Some of them are, but so many aren't.

Also, its in the performance. Something can be fresh simply because it isn't totally aping the original artist. Rearranging the songs, or sometimes simply adding a new performance element can bring something fresh.

Did they just announce that? If so, I missed it.
Connick seems he would be a likely mentor for Sinatra::and he's quite the accomplished musician and very successful. I'll bet he will offer good advice.

The problem is the contestants this season simply do not change week after week and cannot take critique. It's the same old every time.

Hillary Scott is gorgeous. She's the daughter of Linda Davis, best known for her duet with Reba McEntire on "Does He Love You"

But they always do a Standards / Broadway theme night. It's high quality material and how they approach it is up to them. They don't have to lean against a piano with a cigarette and a glass of scotch if they don't want to. Last year it was one of the best nights of the season. And Harry Connick is a much better choice for mentor than Jamie Foxx.

Okay, this is weird for me. I'm temporarily in the same time zone as those who see AI first, so I don't know before the show comes on who's going to get bumped off.

Songs of Sinatra next week. To quote several characters in several Star Wars movies, "I've got a very bad feeling about this."
Warning . . . I have a black belt in Facebook, and I'm not afraid to use it!

Absolutely love this group, Lady A. They haven't turned out one back record that I've heard. Love, love, love them.

    We will survive Sinatra night....
