Reason enough to tune in to the big self-congratulatory mess, I guess.

I second the request for noone to do "over the rainbow". Didn't Jason Castro do that one? And I clearly remember Katharine McPhee having a "moment" with that one. Contestants would be better off to leave that song alone.

I think Kimberly Locke was the first to have "a moment" with Somewhere over the rainbow. This is a song that needs to be retired from Idol competition. That song has turned into the sisterhood of the traveling pants. It gets used too much and it seems to suit everyone who sings it. But give the poor pants a break!

"Dream Weaver" an inspirational song? Really? My friends and I had a totally different take on it way back when!

I've also always had a different take on From a Distance. I guess its all in the interpretation if you take inspiration from something.

I think there are quite a few songs on that list that I never thought of as inspirational. It would be interesting to find out why some of them qualified. And if those questionable ones are chosen, will the contestant get dinged for not picking a very inspiring song?

We now have 2 lists a mile & a half long & the only song that seems to be missing is Montana by Frank Zappa. A very inspirational song about a man finding his lot in life as he becomes a successful Dental Floss Tycoon.
