Well, from someone who kind of likes Alex - the key is to close your eyes and just listen to him - like he's on the radio. The voice has presence. His natural phrasing, while it needs to improve, is very good - to my ears at least.Originally Posted by Krom;3852392;
But you can't watch him - he's a TERRIBLE performer. But improving quickly, when you consider how he started.
I like Siobhan but am waiting to decide - she is growing on me.Originally Posted by felix;3852407;
I am not a fan of Crysal for a multitude of reasons - I think she can sing but she isn't my cup of tea and the judges fawning all over her and the show rearranging the schedule for her didn't score any points with me.
I do prefer men singers though - if you look at my ipod there are definitely more male artists than female artists on there.
Hmm...it's not fawning if its true. It was pretty obvious last night that Siobhan and Crystal are of a different quality that their competition.
They're not "Karaoke". Like what Simon says.
Except - I don't think Crystal is all that...so I think the judges are being a bit over the top.Originally Posted by felix;3852415;
The thing is that this is a competition of who appeals to the masses - not the judges. I would rather have the judges give an assessment that helps the singers improve without declaring a winner. Its too early in the season to crown their favorite. I think this is evidenced by the marked improvement of most of the guys of from week one.

I'm voting for Alex and Andrew right now on DI software. I think Alex has a distinct voice that would really sound good in a recording. Andrew is a very talented musician and singer but he could not live up to his Straight Up performance to which his other performances are being compared to. He should be in the top 12. I'm just not big on him doing an acoustic version. I thougth the band was going to kick in at the middle part. He was doing better going to the high notes in the last part but he should have done more of it. I thought he should have sang "Down" by Jay Sean.
He is so much more deserving than the wreck that is Todrick who did a decent job tonite but a bit too little too late (a theater voice but not recording voice) or that Tim Urban who was utterly dreadful in his first week that only pre-teen girls and that other site was able to save him. He did better tonite but that's not saying much.
I think Todrick is gone but who do you think is Tim going to urbanize this week? The other person is tougher. I have a feeling it could be Aaron. I think Lee is in danger too because he went first and he has pitch problems maybe for a couple of notes.
Mike was off the chain tonight. I loved his performance. I also liked Todrick too. Kara is emotional tonight. Maybe she is preggers.

The guys with the bad hairdos need to go - the whispy guy with the mullet and the dude with the hair like The Monkees. They have zero star power.
The only girl who was truly awful was the black girl.
Sorry I can't remember these names.
I love the girl with the Carole King song but she got panned and may be in jeopardy.
The early favorites are clearly Big Mike and Crystal.
Let me add that there are some nice singers in this competition, but overall I think it is an off year.
Plant any one of the following in this group: Kelly Clarkson, David Cook, Kris Allen, Carrie Underwood, Bo Bice, or Michael Johns - and the rest fade away completely.
I definitely hope Tim goes home. The other is a toss between Alex and Casey, although a lot of people like them. Want to see those who I feel who can sing and have good voices stay. Todrick can sing, although he hasn't been a favorite of mine. Mike had that "Kelly Clarkson moment" tonight.
The ones to beat in this competition right now are Crytal and Mike.
