    Re: Crystal Bowersox Season 9

I commented about this in the 3/9 show discussion thread, but I wondered what everyone is thinking about Crystal taking a seat while the judges critiqued her? It appears that she was provided something to sit on ahead of time. Maybe she's still not really well and can't stand long. Now that I think of it, diabetics have circulation problems. Could be she can't be on her feet for long periods - even though 5-7 minutes isn't a long time.

I didn't notice that she sat. But hearing about it now, I don't think anything about it. If she needs to sit, she should sit. Remember, she wasn't just standing for for a few minutes. That was a heck of an all-out bluesy performance. That takes a lot out of anyone. And she was in a hospital bed a week ago. I say, whatever she needs to do to stay healthy she should do. Don't apologize; don't draw attention to it; just do it and carry on. I want her singing for a long, long time.

Let me just state that I don't have a problem with her sitting if she needs to. I think Crystal is awesome. But I can't recall anyone ever sitting while being critiqued, and I would think the judges would expect the contestant to stand while they give their opinions. I was just concerned that she still isn't quite well.

It was very clear to me that she sat and apparently really needed to do so. I am guessing that her health is still not good..maybe because the change in her life under IDOL is throwing her out of whack. I also noticed that she has some severe dental issues, maybe also related to her condition. I also noticed that her over all appearance was back to being what we saw in Hollywood...lank hair and drab clothing. I think she looked her best on the opeinng show. She wore some color and her hair, while still in dreds, looked shiny. LAst week, she looked like a person who was ill and this week even worse.

She did perform well, although I just am not a fan. Simon, however, is so determined for her to win that he may be hurting her by being his usual obvious self

Crystal was hands down my favorite last night. She really has good control of her voice.

Crystal sat on her amp, she was playing electric guitar this time, not acoustic. They always have amps on stage with the performer when they play an electric guitar, they would need a crazy long cable if they didn't. So it wasn't so much that AI provided her anything to sit on, it was part of the performance.

I don't think anything of her needing to sit, if she did, that's fine, the judges are all sitting too.

This girl is super talented, and I love that she just gets on with it, She has never once mentioned any illness, she has only responded when questioned, and that was to brush it off and move on. Good for her. Others often complain when they are sick and use it as an excuse for a less than stellar performance, Crystal doesn't do that.

And if she is sick, she is so far above the rest, imagine what she can do when she is 100% well.

Excellent points about her not drawing attention to her illness. And I guess I wasn't quite observant enough to realize that was an amp for her guitar, and not just a prop for her to sit on if she needed it.

I've relistened to her performance a few times today. I love it more and more every time I hear it. I like her take on it better than Tracey Chapman's. I know Crystal didn't stray far from the original, but her personality and style was all over it.

I'm ready to buy just about anything she recorded now.

I am pleased they are not talking and talking her illness to death. WE know about it, we hope she is okay, but lets get on with it. She is a pro for going out there an doing her singing and thats that. I think Simon likes that... It is evident that they changed up last week for this girl, they like her.

    You are so right!

I noticed that she sat but really didn't think about her health at the time. Felt like it was because she is so comfortable on the stage that it was like her second home. Why wouldn't you sit down in your own living room?
