Maybe it's a little early to come to this conclusion, but I think the producer's agenda is coming into focus: Send a strong lineup of girls into the semi-finals.

One statement does not negate the other. I know at least a few of the guys that were strong in try outs were not shown. So we can't conclude the guys suck. But we did see many strong girls. The girls being strong does not mean the guys are weak, just that this season we have more girls who might be able to compete.

True. I was just reacting to and agreeing with the first part of your statement: "We didn't see many guys this round." I'm proposing that some good male auditions from Hollywood are on the cutting room floor. We saw only what the producers chose to show us. This competition doesn't really become "fair" until it's live. But by then it may be too late for the un-pimped.

BTW, anyone want to speculate on the meaning of the missing Coke cups? Did Ellen insist on Vitamin Water in her contract?

I loved Alex (sang Straight Up) and Crystal the best. Then Casey and Didi.

Alex and Crystal were the two that blew me away.
Didi (to me) is so much like Colbie Callet (sp) and Megan Joy mixed together but I can't see her doing other styles that much.
And the 16 with the grandmother with alzheimers is one of the judges favorites but not really mine.

Me too. It was an excellent rendition. Hopefully he can keep performing at that level.

LOVED the interpretation of Straight Up (beats the heck out of the original!). Kara compared it to Adam from last year - seemed much more like a Kris interpretation to me.

Casey was fantastic - stepped it up from first audition.

Didi and Crystal are both great, and Lily was even better!

One I'm not so sure about but hope she gets better is the young African-American gal who played guitar and sang a country tune - a little screamy, but probably just nerves. Seems to have a great personality and lots of potential.
