Check out Madonna's Vogue from the 1990 AMAs at the 1:50, 2:50, 3:20, 3:40, 4:20, 4:55, 5:00 (!!) marks for pretty much everything Adam did on the AMA's and then some. All except the male on male kiss. And I don't see what could be objectionable about that since it's only a kiss.

    Here:

YouTube - Madonna - Vogue - MTV awards '90 (original sound)

Did I miss where people have ever said that Madonna's performance wasn't equally objectionable? She faced a heck of a lot of flack for the 90 award show as well as the kiss with Britney and most all of her performances. So why is she being used here as the counterpoint to people objection to Adam Lambert's performance?

It was the whole scene. I thought it was completely unnecessary for someone as talented as him to take it to the gutter. I think the pushing the guys face into his crotch and rubbing it around was just too much. I didn't care about the kiss.

I was bringing an example of many performances on the AMAs in the past that were not that much different from Adam's. People complained about this performance like it was something that has never seen before when it really wasn't. Madonna and Britney macked on primetime TV so why not Adam? Madonna let a guy explore under her skirts twice in the space of one performance so the AMAs have been there, done that.

As it was pointed out above, gay men kissing has been done in the morning on soap operas so there's definitely plenty of precedent and it's all before lunch time, LOL. Just pointing out the hypocrisy of AMA censoring this performance and the ridiculously overblown response from holier-than-thou "family" groups.

And even as I'm typing this now, ABC is airing an erectile dysfunction commercial for Viagra. Talk about irony.

Oops, sorry! Got my dates mixed up. Adam is on Letterman tomorrow night. Rihanna is on tonight.

I believe it was over the top also and not appropriate for TV. I also felt they way about Madonna too. A live concert? Go for it, but not TV. Heck I don't approve of Family Guy for TV. Too many uncomfortable moments watching that show with Zac.

Likewise, people are acting like others have no reason to be shocked by his performance. Adam himself has indicated that he WANTED people to be shocked. He wanted to do something jaw-dropping. He achieved his goal and it's working for him... so why the reverse protests?

People can advise that they were thoroughly disgusted by Adam's performance without that equating to them being perfectly okay with Madonna, Lady Gaga, or Janet Jackson's antics. The incidents can stand on their own. Every tit doesn't have to have a tat. ()

Do I think that GMA's reaction was overblown? Sure, but I'm not the audience to which they are pandering. And a current poll on CNN is showing them overwhelming support.

Is it a good thing in the long run that the press Adam has been getting, almost since theend of Idol has been about Adam the "presonality" & not about his music? They say any press is good press, but it sure hasn't helped him get his songs played on the radio & that is where his bread needs to be buttered, not on the pages of the National Enquirer.

Not necessarily, since recording artists really (by and large) make their money from touring and appearances. Radio play does fuel album sales, which can help keep a person's name up in the public and industry consciousness. But most artists bank on name and personality; a certain brand of entertainment to be associated with what they'll deliver to an audience. If the pages of the Enquirer get Adam booked into venues, and all the talk on Access Hollywood gets people to buy tickets to those venues, then things can work out well for Adam in the long and short run.

You can watch him tonight on David Letterman. Tomorrow morning he'll be singing two new songs live on The Early Show and bring a completely different vibe. People who were at the Letterman taping said he was flawless.

The music video for "For Your Entertainment" was just released on Adam's website and it's a very well made, cool, sexy video. Watch it here:

I realize Idol is over and done. I was just making reference of Adam being a huge success on that show. I, for one, just don't think the way he is pursuing his musical instincts is in the best taste. To each his own.

The difference between Adam Lambert and all these other "entertainers" (I use the word entertainer loosely since I and many others are clearly NOT entertained by their antics) is that he came from a television show called "American Idol"...watched by impressionable children and teens and IMO has a responsibility to behave himself.

If he wanted to perform like he did on the AMAs....he should have stayed away from the Idol machine.

Thank God he did not win....and again, IMO....Idol did not want him to win.

ETA - I just read the above post and agree with angelic one2002.
To each his own indeed. All I can do is make sure my money doesn't go to support or approve of what I consider poor taste.
