Pick a song... then pick an Idol

    The simplest game possible:

    Pick a current Idol contestant.

Name a song you think they could do justice to. Or at least sound interesting singing.

    That's all.

Maybe to make it more interesting we can do this in themes. Each ten posts are under one theme, and then the tenth poster picks the new theme for the next set of posters--after they do #10 of course (number your picks 1-10 so we can keep track). But the point here is NOT to make things difficult for your fellow posters, so pick reasonable themes.

    First theme:

Current hits (I'm defining this as any song which has charted well in... lets say the past 3 years).

1.) How about... Colbie Caillat's "Bubbly"? Yeah, it's a bit schlocky . But its very melodic. So I'd like to hear Brooke White try it (she can obviously accompany herself on the guitar too).

    Next?

Kady Malloy "Big Girls Don't Cry".....only because I think she could imitate Fergie and make it sound believable.

    1.) Colbie Caillat's "Bubbly" - Brooke White
    2.) Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" - Kady Malloy

    new one:

    3.) Rihanna's "Umbrella" - Danny Noriega

YES, I am completely serious about this last one. It would be hilarious. And yet also I think about as entertaining as this kid can be. (Of course the one thing we DON'T want to give Danny would be a Christmas song...)

(P.S. - razorbacker, I'm not ignoring yours. It just doesn't fit the "theme" idea. Which if that falls flat on its face and nobody posts we can abandon later... )

4.) Alicia Keys No One - Syesha Mercado

I love both their vocies and I think she could pull it off with out making it sound like Kady doing Heart or Queen.. or hell anyone. (Yeah i dont like Kady "Miss Bunny Nose" Malloy)

Sorry, I reckon I didn't read the criteria closely enough. My bad.

5.) Taylor Swift's Teardrops On My Guitar - Kristy Lee Cook

To be clear, I think Taylor Swift SUCKS. She's got a weak reedy voice even when massively engineered. But how good the original artist is should not be a criteria for this. And Kristy Lee hasn't proved outside of her auditions that SHE has a decent voice. But if she's going to have ANY chance at all, she needs to try a country song. And this is currently a high charting Country song that's a crossover hit--so people from all demographics would be more likely to toss Kristy a vote for it.

ramiele - back to black - amy winehouse

    or maybe

aint no other man - christina aguilera

something with a throwback back sound like these two ladies have incorporated into their albums: back to black and back to basics. it would certainly fit considering simon keeps insisting she's an old fashion type of singer yet its still modern. like a pop/soul/rnb sound but with an old school touch.

Love Song by Sara Bareilles.... sung by David Cook!

I think it would be nice to hear him scream out "I'm not gonna write you a love song, just cause you asked me to, just cause you want one, you see...." Also, I'm obsessed with that song.

The Great Escape by Boys Like Girls.... sung by Jason Castro

I just love the feel-good nature of this song, it suits Jason to a T and isn't so folksy like the rest of the stuff he's done.

Haha, I love this game! Will think of more later.

I'd like to hear someone sing Hey There Delilah by the Plain White Tee's. Brooke comes to mind, but since it would be better by a guy, how about Jason?
