Re: DialIdol Season 7 **Possible Spoilers**

Correct me if I'm worng, but didn't DialIdol also say that Sanjaya got the top votes last year, yet he was always in the bottom?

Jason Y. may be getting the top number of votes on DialIdol, but that doesn't take into account people who text or don't use that software, which is a lot. So he may be okay as far as that software goes, but if no one else is voting for him, he'll go home.

DialIdol is only accurate when there's enough people using it. In the past it's become more accurate as the season goes on and there are fewer contestants, but it's never been able to predict eliminations during the semis. Everyone but David A. is within the margin of error and could be eliminated tonight.

I think the Idol people have improved the phone response. I dialed maybe 100 times for my favorite on Wednesday, not a single busy signal. She didn't go home, so she had to have some support.

Fewer busy signals means it will be tougher to gain significance with such a small sample size.

The DI methodology isn't terribly dependent on whether a lot of people are using the software to vote for a contestant or not. There's an older post of mine where I tried to explain their methodology, but the short version is: more raw calls cuts down on the margin of error, but not the actual score. That is dependent largely on the percentage of busy calls.

And with 12 contestants, and even 10, there aren't many busy's. It gets more accurate as we go.

Looks like Carly fans voted like hell this time after seeing her in the bottom 3. She is now top 3 and safe from the bottom 3 along with the two Davids.

I'm a little surprised to see Jason Castro so low, though. I hope they're wrong on that.

Ramiele is showing a score of zero for this week.

I bet they are correct on this. He has strong competition with the men. Most of the tween votes are going to David A and that is his audience. I expect to see him in the bottom 3 this week and would not be surprised to see him go.

If that's true, I'd be thrilled but I'm not holding my breath.

I wonder how text messaging affects the accuracy of the predictions.
