Oh, I ordered the whole album. And I am so excited to get it! I wonder why I had never heard of him before...probably because I live in the middle of nowhere Goergia, where there are few good radio stations. And now I have XM, but I am not sure on which XM channel he is played. I'll bet his sales jump a lot after last night.

One more reason to love Taylor: He has introduced me to new music! (This reason is in addition to that lucious, slow floor-to-head shot the other night....what was that about?)

I can't wait to hear Taylor's country song selection next week. I bet he pulls it off, because his talent seems to allow him to sing any genre of music.

Could you consider "Kentucky Rain" by Elvis as Country ( i`m not familiar with the rules of Country ).
I`d so like to hear Taylor sing an Elvis song.

Definitely. Lots of Elvis stuff could be considered country.

I don't think there are any rules for country.

You mean like David Allen Coe's You Never Even Call Me By My Name?

"Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song
and he told me it was the perfect country and western song
I wrote him back a letter and told him it was NOT the perfect
country and western song because he hadn't said anything about
Momma, or trains, or trucks, or prison, or gettin' drunk.
Well, he sat down and wrote another verse to the song and he sent
it to me and after reading it, I realized that my friend had written
the perfect country and western song. And I felt obliged to include it
on this album. The last verse goes like this here:

"Well, I was drunk the day my Mom got outta prison.
And I went to pick her up in the rain.
But, before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got runned over by a damned old train. "

Someone posted the top 100 Country songs on the theme thread, and I'm a Man in Constant Sorrow was listed on there. I think Taylor would do awesome with that one, but I don't know how that would go over with everyone else. It never really sounded like a country song to me.

Although I didn't think so earlier, I can now see Taylor winning this. He has the pipes, personality, and charisma to carry him to the final two and possibly to become the American Idol. He is so different from everyone else, and always seems so alive and up for anything. I enjoy watching him perform and I think a lot of others do to. His voice reminds me a little of Phil Collins. Barry Manilow called it a whisky tenor and he seems to be able to sing any style.
